Favorite Gwent difficulty?
Personally I like it easy, normal just ends up feeling mostly unfair half the time. The blatantly stupid mistakes the ai makes on easy can be pretty annoying but I've done dumber. (I once passed after using all my cards because I thought it was the final round)

PS, if you're new to Gwent or trying a different deck, easy really is the best, and only ever bet on 1 crown.

I grew up in an E.European family that played lots of card games, so picking up subtleties of gwent was easy, even on 'hard' mode could not loose. So, if you like/love gwent look at the mod linked, but warning, unfortunately it requires a new game start otherwise cards already in your deck are not affected. I sometimes loose at gwent now... and love it! :D

I have never liked min-games injected into a game. Like the DiMA mini puzzle game in Fallout 4. I use a console command to skip ( complete ) that dumb quest. And thankfully in The Witcher 3, Gwent is totally optional. It is the option I take.

Besides OP, play it the way you enjoy the most. It is how I play any game.

There are some detailed quests involving Gwent, my advice would be to install a mod which wins you every game at the press of a key so you can play those quests.

I know of the quests. But they are not mandatory. Which was my point. But anyway, thank you for the tip. But I rather not resort to mods.

I have finished the game 3 times now, the last on NG+. I have enjoyed every min of those play runs and not felt like I missed anything important by skipping Gwent.

I personnaly play gwent in easy mod , beacause the IA always have the card to riposte your's if you have a card with more than 8 or 9 they will have a scorch but if you don't they can use all of the card they have and don't use a single one , same with the spy if you have more than 2 or 3 card more they uses spy but if not they don't have it so it's basicly unfair bcs the IA will just follow your moves and counter it

In the beginning of the game hard is just impossible no matter what people might tell you. You can win but you might have to replay often in order to do so.
Once you have collected a couple good cards the difficulty level doesn't really matter anymore. I play on hard and almost never lose except if I'm dealt an absurdly bad hand.

You lose* a game, you loose a string.

I play on normal, Northern Realms deck 100%. By the end of the main game that deck is so stacked I rarely ever lose. There's a couple AI opponents with Nilfgard decks that can give me trouble but not too much. I've also noticed that how much you bet seems to affect the match difficulty. It's almost like a 2nd difficulty slider lol.

Sure, you may loose a few games in beginning until you know the gwent mechanics, but really, the game does not 'stack-the-deck' against you, it progresses as you do quite nicely.

That is, unless you DO NOT buy extra cards when you can. Always buy extra cards when the merchant has them, especially the powerful auxillary cards like Commander Horns and Scorch cards. You buy them all, then walk away, and then return to merchant and buy more of them because they seem to refresh in mechant inventory, at least in my game...

So, NO, "gwent is hard in the beginning of the game" BUT certainly not impossible. Cootswig needs to understand that some players just attune to the situation (the mini game) and grasp the mechanics quicker/better than others. Just like life, no tears lost here, its just reality.

Lol cootswig understands the mechanics just fine and even said it can be done but you need to replay often. So yeah it's basically impossible in the beginning of the game as I said.
