I do need to use FSR 2 @ balanced to get 30-40+fps... at least in this current area.
So, by that, I mean all RT options enabled, with RT Global Illumination on Performance.
Because, ya know, it's a 6700XT and they blow hard at RT with their measly 40RT cores. I don't regret going AMD because every game I play goes over 8GB VRAM (feelsbadman for 3070's), however, I should have sprang for a 6800XT. It's just that the prices weren't right at the time.
Ryzen 5900x
XFX Qick 319 6700XT 12GB (on Merc 319 BIOS for better voltages/less power draw/cooler temps/higher clocks) running @ 2650mhz core OC (2675+mhz average in game)
2x16GB DDR4 3600 C16 dual rank with some timings tuned
Asus STRIX B450-F Gaming II with latest BIOS that introduced AGESA 1.2.0.8.
Check your BIOS updates for your respective mobo manufacturers. This one is recent and is showing gains in MANY games. Zero losses in some games, but moderate to large gains in other games. Especially high framerate games.
Ryzen CPU's pulling less watts at less voltages running cooler allowing higher clocks and more performance, now, with AGESA 1208.
Most likely wont help in a game like this, though, where framerates are low, already, but worth updating to IMO. Rock solid for me.
I also use Curve Optimizer. Using the same settings as before.
Unfortunately, the RX7000 series GPU's are more or less a holdover for the next gen cards. Very lackluster performance gains over previous gen :-(
AMD better blow our minds with the next gen GPU's. If they can't handle RT with ease by then, they're doomed.
This reminds me of when HDR (not monitor HDR, but "bloom" and "HDR lighting" in game) came out in the early 2000's. It killed all the cards that were already out. Like 9800PRO's and FX5900's. Took one generation of cards to come out and start crushing it... and then the 2nd gen after HDR came out.. it was normal. It was just an option that didn't hurt performance.
Raytracing? Sheesh... it's been over 3 years, right? And we still can't turn it on without dropping to 30-40fps.

DX11 has no crashing issues at all.
Thanks for sharing. From what I have read in different Internet forums, it seems that users of 7900 series boards are the most affected by this CTD issue using DX12. I hope the game devs or the AMD driver team manage to fix it soon.
^^^ Fixed your title for you

Everyone's performance levels are different, have different PCs, etc. but a good number of people wondering why RT is so expensive fps wise are just missing that 40% of the hit to jump from DX11 to RT is from just turning on DX12.
If they loaded our CPUs more evenly, I'd probably be able to play with RT on. I even gave a 'do not recommend' Steam review to a game I absolutely adore to (in my very very small way) drive CDPR to act to correct this.

Performance isn't the issue it is the fact that it crashes within 30 seconds.
