The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Patch 4.01 Makes Game Unplayable
The game is now completely unplayable after installing patch 4.01. Getting severe stuttering when moving around and rotating the camera. The game freezes for like 0.2 seconds every few seconds on my RTX 4090 in 4k with Ultra+ and full RT. Didn't have these issues before...

might be speaking out of turn..but

try turning off nvidia reflex and see what happens also try switching asynchronous setting also install the new driver
it was what was giving a similar issue on dying light 2 update

I also have a 4090 and I'm experiencing this too. I had to turn down some Ultra+ settings to lessen the stutter.

I also have an issue when using DLSS3. There is always frame drops when exiting the menu/inventory and going back to the game. I can't remember if this was also happening in the previous patch because I stopped playing to wait for them to fix the constant crashing.

This is super interesting because I notice this in multiple games. The same thing happens in Hitman with DLSS and in Cyberpunk 2077. After exiting the menus, the game is a little bit chunk and the framerate drops and slowly rises again. This seems like an overall DLSS 3 issue rather than a game specific issue.

Turning off NVidia reflex stopped the stuttering when leaving a menu?

not just in the menu, it was the game performance. dl2 was stuttering and bad performance displayed. Turning off reflex solved it. i havent finished patching yet so i dont know what awaits me in this game.

8700k with 3080ti, game still runs like ♥♥♥♥ even with RT off.
Never played the game only tested but ive noticed a drop of about 20fps without RT and no real improvements with. I get 60fps with everything on running thru a thick forest, and about 105-120fps with it it off. I used to get 144 with it off so definitely some performance has been lost. I have 13700k a z790 board with 3090 and 32gb ddr5 5600mhz. Curious of performance with a 4090 with RT on, wondering if its worth the invesment or wait for next lot of cards
Hm... RTX 3070 TI, I7 11700F 4K
Dx12 - 20 fps (no RT)
DX11 - 66 fps

To people saying to switch to DX11, are you for real? The whole point of the next gen update is to have Ray Tracing etc. I did not get a RTX 4090 to play in DX11...

True but the devs dont do a great job with the perfomance sadly
Have also stuttering and FPS drops, also textures messed up in many places. Turned screen space reflections to low to no avail. Playing on RX 6600 in 1080p
It's the DX12 for me. It's unplayable now. Reverted to DX11 and it's muuuch better.
I don't use RT anyways but shame for Dynamic resolution, FSR/DLSS and other DX12 goodies. Maybe they will fix it in time.
Guys, the new patch broke the game for some of us. I am experiencing the same FPS drops/lag with my RTX 4090 and an Intel 10700k, and it is happening mostly outdoors. I have logged over 100+ hours on the previous patch 4.0 with adding dlss 2.0 ver. 2.5.1 and dlss 3.0 ver. 1.0.5.0 (upgraded every dlss 3.0 release since 1.0.3.0) and had none of these issues playing the entire game from beginning to endgame. I noticed the new dlss 3.0 ver. 1.0.7.0, so I thought I would try and swap it out for the old dlss 3.0 ver. 1.0.5.0 to no avail. I tried also removing all the mods I was running (smooth GUI, movement lag fix, over 9000+ weight, optimized RTX and the shadow distance fix) and still the same issue. Seems like a wait for another hotfix is in order, good news is it sounds like they fixed the AMD CPU usage problem from what I have read, as I had switched from my AMD 5900x to an Intel 10700k because of it before. Side note, Cyberpunk with the new DLSS 3.0 update runs flawless with the avg. low over 60fps.

DX12 and RT were broken from the start. pointless to play in it anyway, lag fest
You never noticed the downgrade in shadows in Next gen version 4 with dx11 or without Raytracing compared to the former version 1.32? Very apparent. Look it up in screenshot comparisons. You decided to play a less athmospheric game by not using RT in v4.

And now even RTX 30xx cant run it nicely and smoothly - loosing fps in many places. Not sure if this is the best cooperation outcome Nvidia intended.

I would suggest to submit a Technical Support advisement directly to CDProjekt RED, as that is the quickest way to make them aware of the current issues with patch 4.01.

Idk what the hell is your problem guys. I just tested the patch and it runs smooth as hell.
I have between 80-110 FPS with every Option Maxed with Raytracing active in DX12 Mode.
System:
i7 13700k
RTX 4080
32GB DDR5 Ram
Corsair MP600 SSD

Maybe u should try to activate Frame Generation, this is bringing a lot of performance.
