I can see how just having one random witcher who plays no part in the story and isn't even present in the cutscenes might break immersion for some people. But it's just more options, you aren't forced to play that way.
It's either that, or creating a context in which the 2nd witcher sidekick makes sense within the story and adding him in the cutscenes somehow, which is quite the challenge considering some cutscenes from the Witcher 3, which would take a lot of extra work, or nothing.
Out of these 3 options, I think the first one is the best, most time-efficient with minor modifications, and there's hopefully a mod for it out there but I wasn't able to find it.
You have a very inaccurate understanding of multiplayer systems if you think adding CO-OP to Witcher 3 would be a "time-efficient, minor modification". No, this mod does not exist, and it never will.
What do you think these two games have in common? Cus it's very little. It also took over a decade to get Skyrim Together to a point where it works at all, and it's still a buggy mess. It offers SOME entertainment, but lets not pretend it's anywhere close to the quality of a real multiplayer experience. Half the time your buddy is fighting invisible enemies, and the other half of the time the enemies are doing T poses and chasing him around while ignoring you.
It's not, but it's still so much fun. Doing ridiculous stuff in Skyrim is amazing. Playing with friends makes the Skyrim experience 3x better even if 2/3 guys have no sense in the story and are just there as a filler. I'm not under the illusion that it's anywhere close to the quality of a real multiplayer experience, but it's still a pretty fun experience. I enjoyed Skyrim Together with its broken experience more than the multiplayers in other games with a dedicated multiplayer.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but if this was hard to do for Skyrim it would be a monumental task to bring to TW3.
What about the sex scenes - is Geralt going to share Yennefer with his brother Phil the Brown Wolf? I don't think Yennefer is the type for a threesome - she really loves only Geralt.
And who's going to be the hero of this story and save Ciri? So Phil the Brown Wolf is the first in the door on the Isle of Mists and Ciri wakes up and..."Oh, hi, Uncle Phil, I was hoping for Geralt to be here. Where is he? Is he alright?"
I just don't know... It's stretching the imagination a bit to far for me, and it's not really accurate to the books.
I guess there's always Lambert, but he's a grumpy sob.
seems you're wrong lol!
