No water in the game
Just came back to try out the Next Gen update and the game is now borderline unplayable because there is no water anyone on any map... no river, no lake, no sea, nothing.

On the one hand, it's a bonus because it's now easy to spot all those chests and other loot hidden on the bottom of various bodies of water but on the other as I said, game is borderline unplayable because it looks just weird to see all those drowners swim through nothing, smugglers cache's hang up from nothing and boats just hanging in the air...

Before anyone say anything, no, I do not use any mod.

Ray tracing is off, all drivers are up to date... no change.

Playing with graphics setting also doesn't help.

Make sure no old mods are still in there.

Because if you had mods in 1.32 they will still be there after update - or after reinstall, for that matter.

Fact. Need to be manually deleted.

As I already wrote... I don't use any mods. Never had.

Move your saves files elsewhere and start a brand new game just to see.

Often a bug gets introduced when starting a game. It is a basic troubleshooting step, give a try...

Or, Sounds like a driver problem...

Have you tested does the org 1.32 ver have same problem?

Verify game files. If that does not work then I would uninstall, delete the Steam game folder, and reinstall. Also, are your video drivers up to date?

Sorry totally missed the part about mods. As already been said, verify files and upgrade drivers.

Well, last time I played was few days before Next Gen update and it was cleaning up places of interest in Skellige and everything worked like it should, so it's definitely a Next Gen issue.

As to how to test it now on 1.32... I'm not sure how to do that.

Verified game files, all as they should be. Drivers are all up to date with no newer versions available... haven't tried to uninstall but I guess that will be next step if something else doesn't work.

It's just transparent when I look at it from the shore. If I jump in I still swim and get breath meter when diving.

Not a driver problem (at least I hope not) since they're all up to date... could be a save issue but I can't figure out why.

Solved the issue... it was DirectX 12 that was causing the problems. I started the game using DirectX 11 and everything was fine, so I reinstaled DirectX 12 and now everything works as it should...

But why was DirectX 12 causing problems just for Witcher 3 and not for all the other games is another question.

Thanks everyone for help.

They explain how in the post. Start a new game (no old saves!) with Dx11 set in launcher. I doubt they needed to "reinstall Dx12" but you can look that up yourself right? Google is your friend.

Also, NOTE not all GPUs support playing in Dx12 anyways: https://www.techjunkie.com/what-gpus-support-directx-12/
