I spent all my coin in Hearts of Stone
I just started the DLC the other day and gave 5k to a merchant because Geralt said it was a good investment. I don't think I got anything in return and then he asked for another 10k. I sold everything from my stash to pay for it and now he wants 15k LMFAO. I feel I was shafted. I can barely afford to repair my weapons now let alone take advantage of any of the upgrades he's now offering. Did I just handicap myself by upgrading his shop too soon? Probably a stupid decision on my part...

You can now enchant weapons and armour. Good investment I guess. I'm not there yet. I did go there just to upgrade his shop a little and got the deflection for arrows enchantment on my griffin gear. I always have trouble with big bandit groups that are my level or higher, mainly cause of the archers.

I only gave him 5k and got the gem for him.
The other 25k I'll give him later lol

I thought I read something about how it destroys/removes existing upgrades? I have runestones and glyphs in all the gear I use. I think I need to find some new gear to upgrade...

And the sad thing is when I gave him the money, I thought he was the one who would help me create mastercrafted armor and weapons because I haven't found the person who can do that for me yet...

I believe it did yeah. But I had just simple 3% runes in it.
Isn't the dwarf at the bloody barons castle a master craftsman? (Spoiler it ain't the dwarf but that's where it is I believe)

Oops, my gear is already master crafted. I meant grand master I think because all of my items say 0/6 for the grand master bonuses...

Dude if u got master crafted gear, you've spent MORE then the 15k on that Runeweight, I never used him actually, I invested that money in greomist on Skellige brought +5 runes and all....

I have not used that merchant to upgrade anything yet. I only upgraded his shop. I was just trying to get the bonuses for having all of my Feline gear upgraded because I have all of it equipped.

Like i said, I paid the lot, an even the top tier runeing, didn't really seem to make much sense, considering I have potions and oils and my gear is almost master crafted, I just lack funds to do the rest....

In my humble opinion the runeweight is useless

If you have money to burn, then yes, do invest in his shop if you can. You may not have need for him now, but late game, he offers the best enchantments for your gear that can completely switch up / enhance your playstyle. Most players end up using him in the end. But it can be a bit tricky at the beginning, because of how expensive he can get.

Just hold off the last upgrade. For me the only good upgrade in that tier is levity which make any armor light. Not terribly useful either.
But usually upgrade to level 2. I love severance.

Anyway, if you really need money you can start hitting all those "?" on skellige sea. It's tedious but the best source of income.

Lol dude after my own heart, they do hold some pricey stuff :crunchychick: Toussant holds pricier stuff too, well out of my use at level 12-25, so may as well sell them.

What's considered being rich in this game?
I have 30k now since I spend very little but like high runes are 2300 a pop so 30k isn't a lot I feel?

Well considering I spent summit like 50k b4 level 20 on recipes and ingredients, and i'm currently upgrading my cat armour, to upgrade all items, cost's over 110k,,,,, so that's rich... Pre-update I had full masterd armour and swords..

Pre-update maby spent 200-300k

I got to a point in the base game where I thought I wasn't using my money so I started buying things. I was buying ingredients instead of crafting them and purchasing stupid things like diagrams for upgrades for the runes and glpyhs I don't use. My thought was if I upgrade the lesser ones I could sell them for a profit. I haven't crunched the numbers exactly but I think that money making strategy is flawed. It didn't matter at first but now that I've completed the base game I'm regretting some of those decisions as things are much pricier in the DLC areas. :lunar2019shockedpig:

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

Don't buy Greater Runes / Glyphs, just use the lesser & medium tier ones you come across while exploring and looting the world. You'll wanna have a lot of money late-game when upgrading all your Witcher gear to Grandmaster quality and that can get expensive asf, requiring many rare ingredients which you may need to buy / craft. Whatever Greater Runes & Glyphs you find, stash them to use on your best end-game weapons and armor. You don't wanna waste them on gear that you'll end up selling / throwing away, they're too valuable.

WTFFFFFFFFFF I just read another post and it said something about doing NG+ to get grandmaster items. Ever since I crafted my first witcher item, it said you have to equip all 6 to get the bonus and that they need to be grandmaster quality. But that's not achievable unless I do NG+??? If that is true why is it even advertised in the normal game mode? Am I missing something? RIPPPPPPPPPPPPP
