Low CPU usage
Running an RTX 3080 and an i9 9900k. I booted up the game after the next generation update came out, and it looks amazing, but I noticed I was getting like 30 FPS on max setting with 1440p resolution and DLSS on quality. This didn't seem right, and I noticed my CPU usage is extremely low, in the single digits (anywhere from 1% to 10%). Is anyone else having this issue and know how to fix it? And yes, my drivers and everything are up to date, and other games run just fine.

im sure your monitoring is somehow wrong, theres no way your system only uses 5-10% CPU, even at 30 fps

Yeah, the performance is quite trash, even with Ray-Tracing off. Constant Hitching and stutters for no reason at 100 fps. And no, the windows updates/drivers did not help. I have the same CPU and mine is using 15%

Turn off Raytracing and your FPS will be back to normal.

Without RTX I get like 80 FPS. This isn't bad, but I want to experience the new raytracing stuff and I know my system can run it. I still get the low CPU usage problem without RTX as well. Meanwhile, every other game runs just fine.

Trust me, it's right. I tried other games (played some Red Dead 2 earlier today and my CPU was normal). The issue persists even with RTX off too. My brother has the same issue and he has a 6900 XT and a 5900x. So it's not just me having this problem.

I already made a thread about this, did some tests and we came to the conclusion that the game will only use one of your CPU cores (hence the low CPU usage), but you shouldn't be getting abhorrently low FPS like that. Try disabling Vsync and setting your framerate to "Unlimited" in the game settings, if you haven't done so already.

Your system can run it *on paper*.

Just check these forums, people with 3080s are complaining a lot about RT ruining their FPS massively, so either it's not properly implemented, or bugged, either way, right now, just turn it off or wait for the next few patches before starting your run.

In my game, even with fps unlocked the usage for the 3060Ti is not more than 60%. Which gives me 60/70 fps. All on ultra, DLSS for quality with RT off.

Funny, I also get mostly 60-70, sometimes 80-ish, with all on Ultra+ except for Shadows and Background on Ultra.

That performance result stays the same in DX11 (thus w/o DLSS) and DX12 w/ DLSS Quality.

All that on an RTX 2080.

I have the same Problem.

- NVIDIA RTX 3080 OC
- RYZEN 7 3800X
- 32GB G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4 3200MHz

Gaming in 1440p on 144Hz.
Reaching 35-50 FPS with RT on.

But unlike others in this forum say RT seems not to be the real problem here.
Even if I turn RT off I just gain 20-30 FPS, no matter what graphic settings I use from Low to Highest it does not change anything in performance.

GPU chilling at 50-60% usage
CPU is asleep at 4-8% usage

The Problem seems to be the DX12.
If i turn on the "old" DX11 interface the game runs smooth at 125 FPS all settings maxed out.
GPU usage at 90-99%, CPU usage at least 20-25%.
It's just an other software flaw where they produced a pile of software garbage and presenting it as bleeding edge.

Use DX11 with highest preset as workaround and don't care about RT.
It works for me.

The CPU Bottleneck is so hard that DLSS and FSR makes no sense

I'm only getting 30 FPS as well. On an RTX 2080m i9 8 core.
magnum482 Dec 22, 2022 @ 7:45pm
nothing you can do
game is heavily dependent on a single thread
O_o Dec 22, 2022 @ 8:46pm
have around 45 - 65 fps with 5900 X and 3080 12 GB.
Yeah, atm u cant much do about your 30 fps. It is "okay" for me, but i doubt that the performance will be much better in the future, even with some updates.
