I like to engage with signs and swords and I am not a fan of super OP builds, so this is nice to play.
Perks: Muscle Memory, Precise Blows, Whirl (red mutagen), Strength Training, Deadly Precision or Crushing Blows, Rend (red mutagen), Resolve, Razor Focus, Griffin School Techniques (red mutagen), Exploding Shield, Active Shield, Far Reaching Aard (blue mutagen)
Mutation Perks: Heightened Tolerance, Acquired Tolerance, Synergy, Protective Coating (Euphoria); or: Synergy, Protective Coating, Crushing Blows or Tissue Transmutation, Poisoned Blades or Hunter Instinct (Metamorphosis).
Enchantment: Severance on both swords, bonus to Quen and Igni on armor, trousers, gauntlets and boots; total +50% Quen, +40% Igni
N.B. I'd rather avoid using the Crippling Strike Perk with the Wolven set (or with any sword with innate bleeding) until someone tests how it really works in Next Gen: in the previous version of the game, if I well remember, bleeding from the perk overrided (did NOT stack with) the much better version from the swords. While in doubt, Poisoned Blades is arguably a safer choice if one wants extra DoT (beware, there could be the same problem with innately poisonous blades)
1. All light attack skills except Whirl
2. All heavy attack skills (Rend is super fun to use)
3. All adrenaline skills except Undying (you can get undying if you need it)
I'm also using a few general skills, but I have a mod that makes them active at all times instead of needing to place them in slots. They're optional but good if you have space for them
1. Gourmet
2. Focus
3. Griffin School Techniques
4. Metabolic Control
5. Attack is the Best Defense
That's what I play.
Not sure, since I have not used it yet, but I have read Rend was nerfed for the Next Gen update. Enough it is not that powerful now. Am I wrong?
I like Rend for fun, it's just amusing to 1 shot regular enemies like bandits and have them explode being cut in half. It is pretty strong though, when I get an opening on a monster like using Aard on a griffon, Rend is probably the best way to get a lot of damage in before they are back up again. also works great for any enemies you can stun with axii
