Even my 3050 is capable of running this game using RT and still offering a decent FPS.
Same with my 3060.
Of course you need to do some compromises on a 3050.
But claiming RT in this game doesn't work on 30x0 series at all is just plain utterly nonsense.
Settings are to high, shadows to medium, DLSS quality, FPS round about 42
So pretty sure higher 30x0 cards than mine may be able getting better FPS.
Also go on. Show us your decent fps with your settings on hierarch square. I'm all ears
And maybe you should learn about the meaning of decent.
decent doesn't mean great or good. it means decent.
But if you consider high settings as being a downgrade already, then it says a lot about you.
Graphic settings are there for a reason, you know? So everyone may customize the game in a way HE or SHE likes to play it.
Doesn't change the fact you're able playing the game with RT even on lower 30x0 cards - as long as you're ok with compromises.
Also: RT isn't a must. Without RT, I can play at highest settings with no issue and the game looks still good.
I still do not see your "decent" fps in novigrad. Let us see how good the game works for you with rt on.
Even 30-40 is barely playable due to chopines of image.
It can be okish only for people who never experienced smooth 60+ framerate.
Anyone who used to play at 60-70-80 frames gonna notice deeps to and under 50 instantly. It is very noticeable, feels like sand in the eyes and not pleasant at all.
In games and other interactive media, 30 FPS is the bare minimum. Yes, if you're used to 60 FPS it will look and feel strange, but it's playable.
40-50 FPS is perfectly acceptable if you're used to 60 FPS, but once you get used to, say, 100 FPS, even 60 FPS will seem choppy by comparison.
If you're used to 144+ FPS, you'll be chasing that proverbial dragon for the rest of your life unless you decide to retrain your eyes to "handle" lower framerates.
And thus we get to the crux of the issue: it all has to do with what you're used to, meaning it's relative.
Me, personally, until a few weeks ago, I was used to 60 FPS, tops, so I can stomach getting 40 FPS for the visuals provided by RT (if not for that apparent memory leak).
