How to download Next Gen version

Have original Steam version of The Witcher Wild Hunt + all DLC's dating back to 2015. Uninstalled same sometime around 2017 through Steam. Decided to re-install game to obtain Next Gen version of game. Well, what reinstalled was Version 1.32 (Classic). Steam still has not updated game to Version 4.0. How do I get latest version of The Witcher Wild Hunt?

Check if you are not opt in to beta. Right click on the game name, properties, beta version.

Palm to forehead. I feel so stupid. As soon as I unchecked the Beta box the Version 4.0 downloaded. Thank-you for your quick response and instruction.

Be warned: if you load your old saves with the new version, they will (most likely) no longer be compatible. If you're just trying to see what the new version is like and don't know if you'll stay there, I recommend backing up your saves.

To follow up on this. Your X.XX version savegames will work with 4.00 but as soon as you save again, that save will be 4.00 and won't work if you go back to a previous version. So yes, keep that original savegame.

Understand info regarding saves. Made backup of "old" saves version 1.32 before I started to play version 4. Thank you all for your feedback.
