Whole game re-downloads every patch..Any fix?

I have the game installed on an external hdd however EVERY time I update the game seems to download into my C drive and then back onto the hdd. I have 5gb space on the HDD and only 15 on my C drive

The game wont download and apply the 2gb update due to a 'lack of space' ...

The game isn't being downloaded, but the installer needs to unpack game files, replace them with the updated files, then repack those files. So the fix is for you to have more empty space.

5 GB and 15 GB is nowhere near enough empty space, and I'm willing to bet you've run into several issues because of that, even if you didn't realize it.

No, that's before being decompressed and before the game gets unpacked. Furthermore, from what I understand, files are copied during the unpacking and repacking, to prevent data loss, so you have two copies of the files during this process. Regardless, 5 GB and 15 GB are not enough. Your drives won't be working as well as they could with that little empty space.

So to apply a 2.2gb update to the already downloaded and installed game I'll always need to keep 58gb(complete game size) free? That's really irritating but thank you for answering!
