Hold R2 and then press any of the 4 face buttons to use (not sure which button is for which power) different spells. Igni the flame one is cast by pressing L2 & R2 at the same time.

Nvidia reflex help with button response time. I've got it on but don't know how much of a difference it's making.

I use keyboard and mouse, not controller.

Does it affect performance in any way?

Sorry can't help then...can you not map different spells to separate buttons? This would function the same as quick casting on a controller.

No not at all. The spells are already mapped to 3 thru 7. Dooo eeeeet.......... it makes combat way better once you remember which key is which spell.

I thought Reflex helped with frame rate. I guess I could be wrong.

yeah i know, but i'm new to PC gaming so having to click keys on the keyboard quickly while in combat is still difficult for me so i use the sign wheel instead. I even have all of the keys i use the most in the game mapped to the buttons on my mouse for the same reason. I was hoping quickcasting worked on keyboard and mouse.

You can assign quick selection for signs using the mouse wheel in the key bindings.

True if you are use to using a controller and grew up gaming with one. Not true for us old folks would grew up using only the keyboard and mouse. Some are good with both.

Best way to play imho.

Here's how I do it:
-Move the swords (steel and silver) outa the way. I put them on mouse4 and 5 (I have two thumbs buttons there).
-Assign 1-5 to the 5 signs. Just pick any order, just don't change it later on. I've got quen on 1 and yrden on 2. Igni on 3 and aard on 4. That leaves axii for 5, I use that rarely during combat

Now you can switch the sign on-the-fly without touching the 'weapon wheel'. Cast sign with "Q", thats the default setting and it works fine for me.

-Quen is the shield, it what I use in case of doubt, thats alwass usefull.
-Yrden is the 'magical trap', use this against ghosts!
-Igni is obviously fire, if you have leftover 'mana', why not burn someones face of. Usefullness depends heavily on the enemy. Some are imune, some are very weak again fire.
-Aard is the shockwave. Good to open doors, blow people of their feet, and most importantly to blow flying things out of the sky.

-Axi? Yeah well, you can use it against enemies with a shield. Appart from that you can use it in speech checks.

All signs can get massive upgrades if you invest a few skill points, including an 'alternative mode' that can be activated by holding Q.

Hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Been doing it the exact same way for 25+ years. Too late to change now.

nvidia reflex is supposed to improve response time (the time it takes for your key push to do something in game), I doubt the witcher needed it to begin with, maybe now because it runs like ♥♥♥♥.
