Why. It's nice armour but it's useless ingame.

It would honestly be nicer if it was slightly LOWER level, so it would help you faster in that awkward opening period of having next to no meaningful gear looted, unlocked, or built unless you let a walkthrough hold your hand and claim this makes you hardcore for rushing other named equipment.

Loot the White Orchard battlefield, buy the Temerian armor set, get the Viper swords, it should be enough until you get the first Griffin set.

Which is part of why i joke about "With a walkthrough holding your hand", yes. If it was lower level then newer players or returning ones wouldn't need to run MMO laps for entry level gear. And you would appreciate it more than lamenting it not lasting very long.

Well, armor value is almost pointless anyway... as damage scales up as well... what you really want, is damage reduction against certain attacks... even base Kaer Morhen armor at level 1 is better than some high level armor, because it has 18% resistance to monsters damage, while some high level armors have 0% against such attacks...

Armor doesn't scale in this game. That set is useful from level 7 to level 11 then you change to the other free set which makes you look like Genghis Khan. That one will do until you make one of the Witcher sets. There's lots of other armor pieces that you can switch up if you want different perks.
