How to know old version updated?

I know this sounds stupid, but how do you know if your old original game version (2015) was updated to Next Gen version. For example, my Steam library list this game as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (classic). When I launch game the game, version 1.32 is noted.

I've verified the files, but nomenclature/version # doesn't change.

Try going in game and doing a manual save. It comes up warning you that this save will be incompatible with previous versions of the game.

Just to piggy back this post. I have a saved game that I was playing in the older version. Now I started the same save in the next gen version.
If i revert the game back to the old version will my save not work?

Why didn't I think of that. I ended up loading a save (dated 4/2016) from my last playthrough. Moved around the map and then did a manual save with no error message, So I assume my old game version has been updated to next gen!
