Next gen update combat camera distance, what do you like more ?
For exploring and horseback there is no discussion for me the default one is the only playable, close is just to close.
But for combat I really loved the close combat cam, how the cam moves how you move with the game, was really immersive, until I was fighting the first big enemy, with big "boss" monsters the cam moves so weird with the close setting, it just felt wrong and I had camera problems with it.
So overall I really like the close combad cam for everything that is human sized or a little bit bigger, but for big enemies the close cam just doesen't work, I wish we could change the cam without going into the menu everytime.

I like the further away camera in general. The closer one is just to close IMO.

I actually like close for exploration, especially towns etc.
For everything else, it's default for me, esp. combat where I need see a lot.
I'm using everything on close and liking it so far. Funnily enough i have your opposite problem where against big enemies, makes my fight more cinematic and enjoyable, but against smaller enemies have issues where i get hit a lot from behind.

Swapped back to original for both.

Situational awareness is much more useful than... getting a close-up of how your armor looks from the back?

Every time I think "Maybe closer is better?" some object in the foreground is causing just as much issue as if I was zoomed out, so back to zoomed out it goes.

Don't fall for the close up camera being fully to blame. It makes it worse, but plenty of "leaping in from 50 feet away off screen" or "Hey kids, it's time for every ghost wraith in the zip code to teleport in at the same time" remains with zoomed out.

Zoom out does at least, let you remember how little it has to do with lacking situational awareness" on the player's part. Because you have more frequent times your camera angle will let you see where the shot that no-clipped through a hut or boulder came from like some kid trying to cheat at counter strike, instead of just assuming "oh, I must have deserved to get shot for not noticing I was being shot at."

Feels too suffocating to me, so I've gone back to the defaults.

The new close camera is good for exploration and horseback riding, but once combat starts, I have it set to default with the zoomed out camera. Combat with the new camera is total crap. It's too close.

I use the close camera for combat because it is easier to do timed block and dodge with a closer view of the enemy's animation. Try this with boxing and fights in dark caves.
For exploration and horse riding I use default for a wider view of the beautiful landscape.

I mean my only big enemy right now was the griffin but with close came I just spammed dodge and attack because the came was flying and moving around all over the place, maybe it's better with different ones.

I have it on close for exploring and for horseback riding, and then put it to auto zoom out, default, for battle. I'm playing on death march, and it's way too close for combat for me, when one hit can kill you.

Also playing on death march and I have to say I having a great time with close cam besides big enemy's, I am now done with the starting area and was completely deathless on death march with it, wish it would be even harder tbh
