game crashes consistently everytime after geralt dream in beginning

I tried to start a new game fresh start in the new update and every time I finish the scene at the beginning where the wild hunt comes to kaer morhen in geralts dream it crashes. I have tried this 4 times over and its really disappointing. I wanted to show one of my family members how fantastic the game is after they watched the show and got really into it.

got the same issue, hopefully it gets resolved, because the game is unplayable literally if I want a fresh game, or even a fresh NG+.

Verify your files and also make sure you're fully up-to-date on your video driver, especially if it's Nvidia. I was having the same issue until I verified, and then saw the driver update. been playing happily since.

I have the same problem with crashes. The game would run really well then suddenly out of nowhere the game crashes for no reason then I have to turn off ray-tracing to get past a certain area It is incredibly annoying.

Thanks for the tip, but I have updated my drivers yesterday, for me I can load old games, but trying to start new games crashes after that specific cut scene every time. Its bugged on both a fresh game and NG+ attempts for me.

Wow I verified my files and steam applied some patches now the game crashes a lot less.

Sad to hear it still crashes, though yeah....bad files don't help. I think I'd had like 6 of them that got fixed.

Check if you have old mods, also some newer mods got broken with the recent update so check their site.

That's one of the first things I tried, but still have the issue. I also did a fresh install for this update so even though I used to have reshade, there should be no files from any mod I've used in the past.

That blows. I was looking on Nexus for some quality of life mods since I just started playing again too yesterday and just spotted a DLSS update mod, not sure if we're allowed to post links here but you can find it in the Popular (30 Days) tab. It may help?

I ended up solving the issue by doing a fresh install on a different drive, I guess for whatever reason the game didn't like running on my external drive even though other games work fine, but I'm able to play now so that's good. Thanks :)
