Why can't I attack people
This guy refused to pay me for a contract and had the balls to call me a coward, no matter what I do, the game won't let me attack him.
Try to hit him? geralt just raises his fist.
Try to use a spell? just flicks it into the air.
Try a bomb? oh, for some reason it doesn't hurt the ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Crossbow? won't even let me shoot.

And now that I think about it, geralt uses axii in dialogue to get his way, why can't I use it here, or any of those other times people try to ♥♥♥♥ geralt over.

I mean really, this is just taking away from the roleplay and the experience,
I mean, if someone refuses to pay me for the job they hired me to do, or insults me like that, then why shouldn't I be allowed to attack them?
And why do I not have the ability to mind control them into paying me like I've mind controlled others into doing things before, such as handing over documents, or letting me inside an area?

If they didn't pay you, you didn't complete the contract. Period. Also, you can't go around attacking everyone, this isn't that game. Every game has restrictions and you seem to want a game where you can do anything you want, that game doesn't exist.

That said there is quite a bit of freedom, but most NPC's are off limits for attack.

I got hired to find out what happened to some miners, I did that, killing an innocent rock troll was never part of the deal. So, I lived up to my end of the deal.
Also, I don't want to go around attacking everyone, just this one guy who won't pay me for doing my job, and maybe that other guy who only payed me half what we agreed because 'i dared to correct him on the name of the monster attacking his sheep'.

And again, why was there no option to use the axii spell to jsut mind control them into paying me full.

Ahh yes i remember this quest, well i never tried to kill anyone just because they didn't pay me + i spared the rock troll so i really didn't care what 1 peasant said. :Geralt:

You're too famous to allow yourself to ruin your witcher reputation even more than you did in books and previous games. Geralt knows it - know you too.

honestly, it's not about me gaining money (right now I already have like 30k), it's about the peasants losing moeny in exchange for my services.

ruin my rep?
it would give me a rep as someone who you shouldn't cheat.

No, itd probably give you a reputation as a murderous thug who killed peasants. Witchers are barely tolerated by the world, and geralt has already died to a random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with a pitchfork before. Pissing off the common folk/lords/eternal fire even more and inviting them to hunt him down and kill him again isnt very wise.

I just did that one. He mouths off that he won't pay you, but the notice "received 50 crowns" came up. Don't worry about it.

of course he didn't pay you, to them you didn't follow through on the contract since you spared the troll, now if you had killed the innocent troll he would of paid you your money and been all happy with your services, or are you telling me while playing the game you have never done any of the contracts where sometimes the monster your hunting is not a bad guy but more misunderstood so you can spare them, only problem is it means you don't get paid but you still get your xp and quest complete.

the game is about choice after all and sometimes your choices mean you don't get paid or someone dies that's just the way it is, so keep in mind if you want to be paid for doing witcher work kill monster but keep in mind the monster may not have done anything wrong.

all the other contracts they specifically told me to kill x monster, this one he just said 'find out what happened'.
Besides, the one that actually annoys me is the one where the guy only pays you half the agreed coin because you dare to correct him on the monsters name.
The troll one was just the more recent one.
chriscalvat Apr 20, 2016 @ 7:59am
true but if you had gone back there with the trolls head you would of been paid, no troll head no money, even if the quest only said to find out what happened, the ignorant non-witcher masses expect a witcher to kill any monster he encounters, so sometimes you get paid other times you don't, one quest has you having to go back two weeks in game time later to get payment

thats what the 'meditate' function is for
(I'm so sorry, I can't stop myself) but it's only 1 week you have to wait, and you get double pay if you decide to wait.

at the end of the day the game is saying to you what do you want more, money or saving a troll that did nothing wrong, that's the long and the short of it
