Turn off Dualshock 4 controller lights in Witcher 3?
Finally getting around to playing Witcher 3, and I am becoming immensely frustrated by the stupid DS4 light bar. With other games, I was able to turn it off, but Witcher 3 is overriding my Steam settings and keeps turning the stupid thing on. Does anyone know of any fix for this? I've already tried not using Steam and using DS4Windows instead, but the game overrides that as well.

(inb4 someone says "Duct-tape".)

I tried, but KBM just feels really bad playing this game IMO.

You can try configuring big picture in steam and telling that your controller is a DS4/PS4 controller. I play with an xBox 360 using steam controller configuration and the buttons icons are the ones from steam, not the default ones from the game, so steam controller support can override the game controller support.

Maybe it works, maybe not, cannot assure anything but is worth a shot.

I tried setting the Big Picture configuration to both PS4 controller and Generic controller. For both it did not matter, as soon as I turned on Witcher 3 the lightbar turned on as well. Lightbar remains off in other games like Dark Souls 3, but it is specifically Witcher 3 that I am having problems with.

So, i kinda managed to solve the issue again by using a custom deadzone controller option in steam big picture, after that steam even warned that sigil lights would possibly no longer work. I also made a ini tweak to ensure psn button prompts remained, ill link the page for that in a sec

https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/lvygjj/solved_ps4_promptsicons_on_pc_steam/
above link instructions should force the game to keep showing psn button prompts in the case the game now reads your controller as a steam or xbox controller

edit: in case anyone need to enable a custom deadzone themselves due to ps4 controller drifting
open big picture
click the witcher 3
click controller icon on the middle right
click edit layout
click Joysticks
on the right side of RIGHT JOYSTICK BEHAVIOR (Joystick) hit the cogwheel
Under Dead Zones, and to the right of Dead Zone Type, select Custom
now u can select a custom deadzone range. since all my ps4 controllers tend to have drifting issues, especially with how tight the witcher 3 has it set up. i like to make sure the bar is set from 8 to 88, but you might want to test these settings yourself.

repeat the above step for LEFT JOYSTICK BEHAVIOR
u can now launch the game and you will likely get the warning about sigil lights no longer working
you probably also want to make sure you have playstation controller support enabled in steam>settings>controller option outside of big picture.
i was able to launch the game afterwards without big picture and everything remains saved

its very bright and distracting and overall unnecessary, even just the blue light thats on by default i force disable trough steam settings. This whole RGB clown show as a whole is something that goes completely over my head, or at least its just something i just grew out of at my late teen years i guess.

i want no distractions, just functionality of the controller device of choice, and the screen that im looking at. i should add that i dont even like the rumble feature in games and turn that off as well

are you playing in a pitch black room? I can barely even see the light off of my duelsense and that's pointed at me
Also i think DS4Windows might have a setting for it

no its a pretty well lit room but the light is so bright i can see the light reflections in my own pants constantly, and it even freaks my cat out lol. (which tends to lay on my lap)

ive tried the ds4windows method in the past and it tends to be finicky where the game registers double input due to the game itself natively picking up on your controller, and then ds4 windows as well so every button press gets registered twice.
anyway i figured out thanks to the link posted above in combination with a custom controller layout so its all good. im sure theres a way to get rid of the double input in ds4 windows as well but i can see that being just as time consuming as above posted workaround :P
