The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Witcher Book Series Covers
Who else think the U.S book covers for the witcher series of books are the weakest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ book covers in history?

Yeah, the US book covers are a lot of old art for Witcher 2 (and the lastest books have been using Witcher 3 art) - it's pretty lame. Might be the only way Orbit sees the series selling in the US as the games, esp. Witcher 2 and 3, are what popularized the franchise.

The average person does not play fantasy video games nor are they interested in reading fantasy novels, particularly when they may have been written in another language first, then translated to English.

The majority of the people buying these books will only be interested in them because of the games. Otherwise, they would have already read them because they were interested in the genre or really enjoy fantasy fiction from around the world.

Before the games, the books were enormously popular in Poland and Easter Europe but the rest of Europe had barely heard of them, let alone the rest of the world. So it's not surprising that the marketing for the books in the west would draw from the game art as that would still be their primary potential audience.
nah its just a U.S thing, game covers and book covers tend to be very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in here compared to european/japanese covers.
The Czech covers with emblems look the best IMO

Well, an odd thing happened when the games first started coming out. The books were reprinted in Poland and Easter Europe with new covers to take advantage of the game sales (with for the first game were abysmal) but because they were so different, many of Sapkowski's die-hard book fans thought they were brand new novelizations of the game. Ditto for when W2 was released and did a bit better in sales.

Just before W3 was released, that's when Sapkowski had his rant about the games harming the sales of his books, since those genius book fans were accusing him of selling out by novelizing the games in stead of writing new Witcher stories.

Strangely enough, Sapkowski really doesn't seem all that interested in writing any new Witcher stories. Season of Storms was published four years after The Lady of the Lake (1999) and the first Witcher game came out in 2007. But the last thing he's published didn't come out until 2013.
interesting, never knew this. i wouldnt blame sapkowski either, he did write 8 books, and he did seal the series with the ending of lady of the lake.

There was even an issue with book size, and I mean the actual size of the book, dimension-wise. Two of the books were published much smaller in height than the others and logic might has said that those two would have been the short story collections, but they weren't.

The Witcher books are just plain odd.
yeah i know that, blood of the elves and the last wish were smaller the sword of destiny and the other novels, how ever they fixed blood of the elves but not the last wish for some odd reason.
