On the other hand, If you have Blood and Wine, there's a hilarious quest where you can discuss Roach's behaviour.

When calling Roach, the horse is always behind a fenced in house. :Horse:

Who would have thought it? How different all these Roaches and Ploetzes are!

My Geralt seems to be a lucky man: Roache is intelligent and prudent and does all the things Geralt wants the horse to do:

Roach is a bumbling idiot of a horse but in a charming way. I wouldn't change my Roach for anything

This helps a little, just a little:
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1586/?

There is also a 'instant summon' mod, but looks really stupid in-game.

The riding mechanics are really good in this game, but spawning the horse and expecting it's AI to do the pathfinding is just plain stupid.

90% of the time I run to him instead of him coming to me.
Considering CDRP nailed the coding everywhere else, having bad horse coding is not so much infuriating. :steamsalty:

Riding mechanics are dumb to. Horses do not control like tanks. Infact horses are smart and wont let you walk them into a wall or tree irl. A good horse will protect their rider with their own life.

All they had to do was make roach in from the front or actually come to the player from behind instead of making me backtrack.

Geralts movement is pretty badly impemented as well, but thats a differen topic.

I like the riding gameplay, aside from not auto-jumping small obstacles like fences and small rocks, i think it's really well done.

As for the char movement, the default mode is a very unresponsive indeed, but it deals with a lot of bad keyboard input. For joysticks it's terrible, thus why everybody should use the new control method implemented with the patch.

Really? I find amazing the work done with the game in this new engine, graphics, sound, scripting, animations, scalability... it's a really good piece of coding in my view.
And i know is a middleware solution, but the physics, hmm just amazing for the performance impact it causes. 2 years ago we could not imagine a game with so many trees swaying with the wind, and grass and foliage being displaced by npcs and the player walking over it.
Heck, the game is running beautifully on my 7790! Almost no other game can show me the amount of detail this game shows, at the scale this game does, without running sub 10fps.
If this is not proof of good coding, i don't know what is...

Alas, the AI of Roach is indeed stupid at a whole new level...
Stupid in fact is a compliment to it...
Totally agree in Kodamax, horse should come from front. That's all I ask.. I hate when I am running and I whistle and then I have to backtrack to catch horse. In some cases it's faster to not catch horse because he is behind a fence or a tree or something.
