You could always just, you know, not use it..? It's something you have to choose to use by pressing a button.
Its more about the camrea pointing in the right direction while fighting an enemy. If the character is facing the correct direction the sword still "auto locks"
It's not just pressing the lock on button. For me it locks onto targets automatically once combat begins. Pressing lock on only seems to highlight the target but even with the target highlighted if more than one enemy is present it stitches between targets. That I find very annoying.
I'm guessing you were hoping it was more like the aiming in skyrim.
Exactly. Guess I'm too old school. But I like the camera to stay behind me and turn with me as I move. And I like to choose my targets finding it better to work on one while dodging the others. But in Witcher 3 the game chooses your opponent for you. Something I would like to turn off. I really enjoy Witcher 3, just wish the combat was a little different.
It doesn't, though.... You can clearly decide which enemy to attack. All the game is doing is guiding Geralt's acrobatics towards the enemy you aim at.
No for me it points Geralt automatically at the nearest enemy. If while fighting that enemy another attacks you, you can just turn around and aim at that enemy. I have to move away to break the lock on the one enemy in order to engage another. So I give up on that and just let Geralt do his dance and just strike at whatever target comes in range. That is what I find very disappointing in the combat in Witcher 3. But I live with it. Just the way they made it for the console players. I don't use and can't stand controllers. They are just not quick enough for me. Anyway I shouldn't have brought this up. It's not the point of the original post.
It choose for you but its a "general direction" kind of aiming and not precise. Sometimes in multi-enemy battles an undamaged foe will come to the front...but what if I want to attack the guy behind? It changes the person Geralt attacks (without the lock on feature which the thread is about). Its gotten me killed a few times....at least with the lock on feature I know who i'm attacking.
Then again I could just be bad at this game. Which is fairly likely....lol.
My lock on stopped working when I did the training for the tournament quest.
It`s annoying but makes game a little bit harder because you frequently lose control on your character.
Aye, it seems to be tied to your savegame since some people have been able to fix the bug by reverting to an earlier save.
