Most OP Build?
Hi, I've beaten the games several times on death march and I must say I Love this game and can't wait for Blood and wine!!!! Just wanted some opinions on the most OP build. I've tried pretty much every one and I have to say in my opinion Alchemy build is wayyyyy to OP lol. Seriously I don't play with Bear armor but I can't imagine how tanky you can be with all the potions you can use lol. I've always been told that the green tree was useless but when I started to try it out I was like whaaaaaaaaaaat???? All I have to say is if you haven't tried the green tree you need to. What do you guys think is the best build? I am a little hesitant to use this build for blood and wine because of how OP it is lol. Don't want it to be too easy.

How is Alchemy OP?
because it allows you when upgrade to use up to 3 decoctions potions at the same time. Some of them like the griffin one allows you to take more damage, each time you get hit the next time you take damage is lowered the rest of the fight. And one of them offers more resistence to a certain enemy type when applying the right oil to your blade. This paired with the witcher's armor is really awesome because you can pretty much tank through a lot of hits

There are a lot of other ones that I haven't mentioned but seriously it is very OP once you get fully upgraded in that path lol. The other paths are great don't get me wrong but with alchemy you can take wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more hits

I loved the sign (Quen) build. I had the Mastercrafted Griffin Armor and that perk under "general" that gave like + 5% sign intensity for every piece of medium armor and then the 3rd level Quen perk under signs which increases sign intensity by 25% when you upgrade it to 5/5 which brought it to at least 200% sign intensity. But then I went even further to put Greater Veles runes on my swords (with 3 sockets it added 15%) and then put Greater Glyphs of Quen (10%) in my armor sockets which gave 70% bonus to Quen. So by the end of it I had like 230% (or more) sign intensity and 300% if I casted Quen, which was epic because it just absorbed everything. It was glorious.

Yah Griffin armor is awesome. That is also and OP build as well. I just found that with just a new game on death march I became extremely powerful in a short time with alchemy. Full sign build is great as well

Alchemy build seems fun, I'll have to try. This guy explains it in details https://youtu.be/Lc3lFWB69BM

Dnrad May 28, 2016 @ 11:20am

I have tried both sword and an alchemy build. The alchemy build was MUCH more powerful and to some extent broken when combined with adrenaline and heavy armour. My build was in no way perfect but I steam rolled enemies and bosses. The main problem is that you have high repair costs due to becoming lazy with countering/blocking.

That video above will probably goes into detail about the benefits but as an overview if we consider a few skills from the alchemy tree combined with a few decoctions.

The Arch Griffin decoction makes strong attacks consume all stamina but reduces the enemies health by 10% after their normal damage is taken. The Ekhidna Decoction heals you whenever you perform an action that uses stamina. If we take acquired tolerance (Increase the maximum toxicity based on number of owned Alchemy formulas) we can use these simultaneously.

That means that whenever we hit with a strong attack we deal a ton of damage but also heal ourselves. If we then take tissue transformation we gain an additional 1000 hp per decoction consumed if memory serves. If we combine this with school of the bear heavy armour, we are literally a tank.

Now to make things more interesting we can take refreshment that allows any potion used to heal us as well as perform its original intented effect, this gives us emergency healing and just makes us even more tanky. We can then take Protective Coating which reduces damage by 25% from opponents if they match the type of oil we apply to our swords. Now we are even more tanky.

If we spec into adrenaline we can take undying which resurrects us with adrenaline points if we die. We can also take Flood of Anger which allows us to use max level spells using all our adrenaline points. Some people may take Razor Focus instead of one of these, as i said I wasn't min maxing.

We now have a few more options. If we spec into bombs and take Efficiency we carry more, which i found very useful when you have high level ones. We can also if slots permitting take cluster bombs which means that bombs fragment and cause multiple explosions.

Regarding Oils, we can take Poisoned Blades which adds damage over time and Hunter Instinct which increases critical hit damage when we have high adrenaline.

If we combine the above with adrenaline rune stacks in our equipment, we rake up adrenaline to do more damage, can use powerful spells and if for some reason die, get brought back to life.

I personally specced a bit into fast attacks to get whirl as imo some enemies are better dealt with quick strikes.

So yer, it was pretty damn good overall and hardly ever died playing on the higher difficulties, you literally become a drugged up demi god. Hope this helps :)

Not sure if I should use potion of clearance or load an old save.

Yeah this game has a lot of balance issues.

Yah lol Alchemy is tooo powerful lol. Haven't tried it with bear armor yet. I have been using a mix of witcher and normal armor and I'm still tanky lol

It's either Alchemy and Signs, or Alchemy and Melee, with Heavy attacks. 3 Decoctions, Griffin Ekhidna, and whatever the third one was.

Anyhow, I have around 15k HP on deathmarch NG+, level 57. Running 3 decoctions at once, healing myself by using Quen and the like, and stuck smacking stuff down with Heavy attacks or Whirl. Basically the best build; there is nothing better to what I've seen.

The armor enchant from Hearts of Stone to deflect all arrows is a god-send, by the way.

Wonder what BAW will bring to enhance that build.
