The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Ver estadísticas:
3 easter eggs that Witcher-fanbase still don't know of
I gave up few years back trying to convice people or have a decent conversation around some of these subjects. Some people are just too set in their way of seeing how Witcher-saga should play out.
But this thread gets regularly necroed and this forum doesn't seem to have any sort of moderation. So i've decided to rewrite the whole original post because it simply wasn't, well, good enough.

Im not going to post any screenshots or quotes from the books. You'll simply have to keep these things in the back of your head when you are wading through the saga once more.

First easter egg: Triss Merigold is dead.

Andrzej Sapkowski made fools of his readers. There never was Triss Merigold of Maribor in the whole saga. And i mean all the eight books and three games. Lytta Neyd has been impersonating Triss the whole time.

https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/9fzm57/the_greatest_easter_egg_ever_the_identity_of/
I did write about this on Reddit few years back, but eventually the topic was closed due inactivity.

So basicly what happened is that on the Sodden Hill Triss Merigold of Maribor exploded into unrecognizable pieces. Lytta Neyd was burned so badly that she could not be recognized either. So a mistake was made by the Sodden healers, Coral was restored with Triss Merigolds appearance.
The reason why she never corrected this mistake is that she fell in love with Geralt during the Season of Storms book and simply wanted another chance.
Season of Storms takes place between 1st and 2nd book. If you read Season of Storms after Lady of the Lake, you are doing it wrong.

Second easter egg: Geralt and Cirilla slept together during The Witcher 3

This is what original post was about and it gets some people really upset. Alot of fans see Geralt and Ciri in a father-daughter relationship and want nothing to do with this idea.

But there is a single reason for this intercourse: Sapkowski wrote during A Question of Price-story that virgins cannot control the Elder Blood power.

Princess Pavetta during her birthday party lost conrol of her power.
Cirilla during the battle of Kaer Morhen lost control of her power when Vesemir died.

By the way, Pavetta was unable to control her power but was also pregnant as it was later in the book revealed. This would seem to null my argument but it doesn't. I will tell you about Pavetta's pregnancy in the 3rd easter egg.

First Sapkowski writes on his book that virgins cannot control the power but few pages later he writes that the girl is pregnant. This is deliberate from Sapkowski, he begins building a easter egg here.
Also i doubt that there is an author in the world who would make this kind of mistake.

So, Cirilla lost control of her power when Vesemir died. But at the end of the W3: Wild Hunt she uses her Power of the Elder Blood to end the White Frost. This means that she lost her virginity after the battle of Kaer Morhen.
It happened after the fight with Crones and Imlerith, before returning to Novigrad. Pay attention to the travel time from Bald Mountain back to Novigrad when playing the game. It is 7 days. It is here where the two had their quality time.

The dialog choices during the W3 only determines her survival, wether of not she comes back from the White Frost.
Her ability to control the Elder Blood is solved by other means. And player cannot affect this. She always gains control of her power. No matter of the player choices.

Third easter egg: Triumvirate theory - Emhyr's exile years and Pavetta's pregnancy

If you go to Witcher-wiki and try to search info on Emhyr's exile years, you'll find nothing. This is where wiki hits complete blank. But it is actually possible to figure out where he was, with whom and what he did during this time. You'll just have to sherlock the ♥♥♥♥ out of the saga.

https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline

1228 Emhyr was exiled when he was 13 years old
1237 next time he is seen in Cintran forest, demanding Law of Suprise from King Roegner
1252 he appears at Pavetta's party demanding her hand

He was exiled around 24 years. And let me tell you that he did not roam around forests.

To get this easter egg going you'll have to use simple logic. Alot of this easter egg is about using deductions and logic in fact. So....

Emhyr is exiled and cursed, what would he do?
Being cursed, he would seek help from powerful mage.
Being exiled monarch, he would seek asylum from a nation friendly to Nilfgaard.

Witcher-saga has a nation friendly towards Nilfgaard and the leader of this nation is also powerful mage. Ring a bell?

Emhyr did not roam around forests when he was exiled, he immediately sought asylum from Dol Blathanna, from Francesca Findabairs court. If he had any sort of curse on him, im sure Findabair lifted it.

Now we have to make a wild assumption. An assumption that Francesca Findabair introduced Ithlinne's Prophecy to Emhyr, who was teenager at the time. Maybe 14 or 15.
Why would she do this? For two reasons. First, the Elder Blood was already mixed to the human genes. Second, she recognized Emhyr becoming in the future the most powerful man in the world.
So she simply saw Emhyr as a "savior" of the Ithlinne's Prophecy. So from this point forward, when Emhyr was teenager, all he did was towards fulfilling the Prophecy in his own imperial bloodline.

But now Emhyr and Francesca have two problems:
First, the only bearer of the Gene is Queen Calanthe. So marriage between Emhyr and Calanthe is simply impossible.
Second, Emhyr is exiled teenager and Francesca is queen of the Elves, so neither can go meddling around Cintran court.

The solution to the second problem is to have someone who can go meddling around human courts. And this is when i believe Francesca introduced Yennefer to teenager Emhyr. This is when the Triumvirate is formed. Emhyr, Yennefer and Francesca. For the purpose of fulfilling Ithlinne's Prophecy in Emhyr's bloodline.

The solution to the first problem is simply to wait for Calanthe and Roegner to have offspring. Now you begin to understand why Emhyr was exiled for so long. First Triumvirate had to wait for 9 years for Calanthe to get pregnant and then another 15 years so that Emhyr could go demand Pavetta's hand.

The Law of Suprise between Emhyr and Pavetta was obviously fake. Francesca and Yennefer, with their magic, cause Roegner accident and teleport Emhyr to Cintra. Probably caused Calanthe's labour too. And so you have fake Law of Suprice between Emhyr and Pavetta.
Or would you rather believe that Emhyr spent 24 years roaming randomly around forests, relying on blind luck to have his curse lifted? The whole curse is plain copy of Cinderella story anyway.

Triumvirate knew that Calanthe would oppose Emhyrs claim for Pavetta's hand. So with Yennefer's and Francesca's help, Emhyr begin courting Pavetta a year before her 15th birthday.
Triumvirate could not take any risks however, and so they ended up inseminating Pavetta.
I know this sounds weird, but this is the logical way how Pavetta was both pregnant and unable to control her Power. She never had an intercourse but yet was pregnant.

And it is Sapkowski's own writing that both abortions and insemination is possible in the Witcher lore. Insemination was what Vilgefortz was planning to do to Cirilla after he captured her.

Right after Emhyr and Pavetta were married, he begin to prepare his return to Nilfgaard. Preparations taking for few years. But because there wasn't real connection between Emhyr and Pavetta, she grew distrusful towards Emhyr. And at critical moment Triumvirate's plan failed when Pavetta send Cirilla away from the ship which was supposed to carry them to Nilfgaard.
And so Emhyr had to wage several wars against the Norther Realms. To get his hands on the bearer of the Elder Gene.
Of course the secondary goal of the wars was unify all the kingdoms and then plant Cirilla on the throne.

Thats it, thats all i have to say.
It is very hard to figure out these easter eggs because they span on the whole saga. And you have to do Sherlock or Poirot class brainstretching too.

PS.
Over the course of years while this topic has been running, i've seen every possible insult people on the internet can muster. So don't bother with them if you don't have anything else to say.

This statement is true, hilarious and at the same time extremely disturbing. 10/10.
This whole thread is disturbing tbh, high key creepy vibes from the people who like that theory. 0.3/1000

Shani is around the same age as Ciri, no hiccups. Its that Geralt has always played a paternal role in her life.

people are against it because of the actual relationship of the characters in both the book and the games.

Both the books and the games geralt and ciri only see each other as father figure and daughter figure. Thats it end of story.

Those that want the option are wanting an option that makes absolutely 0 sense with the characters and they want to see two characters who see each other as father and daughter screw.

Spoiler warning, so before reading you might want to read the books and play the Witcher series first.

For almost 5 months now i've been delving into Witcher-series. First i played the Wild Hunt through maybe 5 or 6 times. Then i got the Witchers 1 and 2. Played them through once. Then i read the books.
I, uh, found the english version books from the web. Im finnish so english is not my native language, still, i think my english is pretty good.
After reading the books i again played first fully through the series once, and then i grind Witcher 2, maybe 5 or so times. The Wild Hunt i played again through maybe 3 more times again. So i believe i have pretty good understanding of what is happening there behind the scenes.

To start unwrapping the little secret between Geralt and Ciri, you need to read the first book. More precisely the story where Geralt attends Princess Pavettas 15th birthday as Ravix of Fourhorn,(the Play is the Thing-quest play is loosely based on this event).
During the feast, Pavetta experiences uncontrollable burst of Power. Identical to what Ciri has during the battle of Kaer Morhen. During this burst of Power, druid Mousesack (aka Ermion) tells Geralt that she cannot control the Power because she is virgin. This interesting piece was, IIRC, mentioned only once during the whole series. Anyway, the birthday party ended well, Mousesack and Geralt managing to subdue the raging princess.
Geralt invoked the Law of Suprise and was bound with Ciri there. How Pavetta was pregnant and virgin at the same time? I believe this was Yennefers doing.
During the raid to the Avallac'h lab, Ciri asks Yennefer if she had anything to do with manipulation of the Elder Blood gene. Impression i get from the way Yennefer replies makes me believe that she lied and indeed had something to do with it. But there was never any evidence though.
This background would explain why Emhyr took Yennefer as his court sorceress after the Imperial Secret Police arrested her and Viper school witchers.

Rest of the events in the books or Witcher 1 and 2 had no additional clues regarding this subject.
Well, maybe Geralts and Ciris behaviour during the battle of Castle Stygga, the two coming down the stairs slick with blood...

Interesting events in the Witcher 3:

The Crones
First you might think that the Crones spoke alot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t, but they actually didn't.
They claim that the spirit trapped inside Whispering Hillock was evil, which was true. The background is explained in ingame book called "She Who Knows"
They also said something like this: "We shall meet again... our fates are bound... and one will die... but it shan't be one of us". Also true, they met again and one did die, Imlerith. The two Crones Ciri beat up lived on similar to the Whispering Hillock spirit.
The Crones mention Ciri being a mirage when Geralt chases her. This refers to the scenes with doppler Dudu and the illusion in Hym's lair.
So, i believe that all the crones said was actually truth. The Crones hit the nerve: Geralt likes shapely, ashen haired maids and is boiling like well fed yeast.

Oneiromancy session
Geralt and Ciri are bound, not only by fate, but by "something more". They both believe so, this is what i think. After reading the books im sure that in Ciris mind, she sees herself as Geralts woman and only Geralts.
During the session Geralt says that he doubts that Ciri controls her powers to this day. He says this because he believes that Ciri wouldn't sleep with anyone.

Ida Emean
Ida Emean mentions Geralts importance in the prophecy. The meaning behind this is that only Geralt can "unlock" Ciri's ability to control the Power.

Wolven armor and Ciris alternative look
Geralt wearing Wolf school gear and Ciri's alternative looks look strikingly similar. Like a couple.

Isle of Mists and 7 dwarves
Reference to the The Snow White and 7 dwarves. Too bad 2 dwarves ended ♥♥♥♥-up.
I believe that the the Wolven armor and the Snow White reference are two hints pointing that theres more to Geralt and Ciris relationship than it seems.

Battle of Kaer Morhen
As Geralt knew it, Ciri can't control the Power, it's evident she is still a virgin.
Later, Old Thecla also sniffs this out.

Return from the Bald Mountain
The journey from Kaer Morhen to Bald Mountain took week or so depending if you visit the emperor or not. However, after the fight at the Bald Mountain, they return to Novigrad one week later although the trip shouldn't take that long.
This is when Geralt and Ciri slept together.

There are two interesting scenes where the two give each other some "looks", or "stares".
First scene, when they return to Cameleon and Zoltan asks where the two have been, they say nothing, just look each other in the eyes.
Second scene is in the nonhuman circus camp. When talking to Valdo select the "Thanks for taking Ciri in"-dialog, Valdo replies then "its hard to refuse lass like her" and Geralt and Ciri give each other another "look".
Their stare is also in the other dialog but scene cuts it very short.
Im sure some people have noted these, but have been uncertain of their meaning.
Also worth mentioning is that Avallac'h and Ciri never trained again.

Final Age
Ciri ends the White Frost so she must have full control of the Power, she's clearly not a virgin anymore.
The moments Ciri remembers before entering the White Frost determines her survival, not her ability to control the Power. This has been throwing people off from this secret.

While no romantic scenes or dialogs between Geralt and Ciri were implemented to the game, the hidden lovestory is still there.
Im sure people have their opinions of what is the best ending for the series. After grinding through the series so many times i've concluded that the best ending with Ciri.
The final scene in Corvo Bianco, Geralt and Ciri sitting in the shade of the tree, is exactly how i imagine this series to end.

Please watch the movie Leon the professional (Jean Reno, Natalie Portman).
I think it perfect example how i believe Ciri feels for Geralt.
Same kind of scene also happens in Sin City-movie.

edit 14.5.2017
The 2 usual arguments:

1. She slept with Mistle
Nope, she did not. The book is rather obscure of what happened between them though. Still, in short scene in the book Time of Contempt, its said that Ciri has nightmare most nights and wakes up screaming. So its safe to say that she had nightmares, not sex.
Besides, i believe the whole thing with Mistle she did only to protect herself from the advances of the Rats guys.

If you wish to check the books yourself:
Ciri hooks up with the Rats at the near end of the book Time of Contempt
Baptism of Fire has few short scenes. The story with the Rats ends at the beginning of the Tower of Swallows.

2. You are a sick ♥♥♥♥.
Geralt and Ciri are not like father and daughter.

Read these:

Ending of the book Sword of Destiny.
From the book Lady of the Lake, the Castle Stygga-scene:
-Scene where Vilgefortz tells Ciri his plans
-The stair fight where Ciri and Geralt fight shoulder to shoulder
-And lastly the conversation between Geralt and Emhyr

Especially in the stair fight scene there is strong symbolism. I believe Sapkowski even emphasized it there when Ciri hands Geralt a wolf medallion.

This topic was probably so far back in the forum, (page 50 maybe?) that the only way to find this is by Googling "Geralt&Ciri romance"?

You think you know this series better than me?
You don't.

Im not going to bother replying to the contents of the original post anymore.
Instead, im going to let you in on a secret.

Here it comes:

Triss Merigold is dead.
Lytta Neyd has been impersonating Triss Merigold since 3rd book.
There never was Triss Merigold in the whole series.
The sorceress who arrives Kaer Morhen in the 3rd book is actually Lytta Neyd.

First of all, you must know that Season of Storms takes place between 1st and 2nd book. 18234567 is how you must read the books. You'll easily figure this out yourself if you read the books in proper order.

This screenie is from the 3rd book. After the sorceress arrives to Kaer Morhen, she tells the witchers about the battle of Sodden Hil.

https://aijaa.com/wqARzc
"Most of the corpses were in hard-to-recognise pieces - no one identified them. The living were hard to account too. Of those who had known me well, Yennefer was the only one to survive, and Yennefer was blind. Others knew me fleetingly and always recognised me by my beautiful hair. And i, damn it, didn't have it any more!"
"We were cured, patched up, our former appearances returned to us, our hair and sights restored."

Triss Merigold explodes into unrecogisable bits and Coral suffers extreme facial burn marks. Who can tell the difference between them? Yennefer was blind, so no one.

Coral and Triss Merigold were simply mixed up. So Coral was restored with Triss' appearance. With eye and hair colors too. Later on Coral changed back to her original eye and hair colors thought.
This is why there is conflict in Triss Merigold wiki page. Her eye and hair color changes for some reason. People blame it for CDPR butchering canon, but actually CDPR held true to it. Its just wiki that is wrong.
https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Triss_Merigold
https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Lytta_Neyd

http://aijaa.com/urmVXW
"Lytta Neyd, known as Coral. Her nickname derived from the colour of the lipstick she used."
http://aijaa.com/n8lhkb
"Your hair, Triss, is like fire in the candlelight. And your eyes are like lapis lazuli. Your lips are like coral-"`
Red hair and coral lipstick. Blue eyes though.

After Yennefer disappeared into Sedna teleportal, Coral comes looking for her. She is visiting her homeland after long time so she had to show her true colors.

http://aijaa.com/urmVXW
"The chestnut-haired Triss Merigold. cheerful, giggling for no reason, looking like a teenager. He had liked her. And she had liked him."
According to the quote, Geralt and Triss Merigold were just friends. There was nothing intimate between them.

http://aijaa.com/DlXRFz
"... she had seduced the witcher - with the help of a little magic.
Coral seduced Geralt with magic in the Season of Storms.

http://aijaa.com/W9IJEM
"Geralt - God knew why - dreamed of Lytta Neyd during the night."
http://aijaa.com/vXzGyN
"She smelled of freesias and apricots."
http://aijaa.com/FsCItT
"You lured me. Like an insect. With magical freesia-and-apricot pheromones."

It is obvious that Coral used magic to seduce Geralt.

http://aijaa.com/DlXRFz
"She had hit on a propitious moment, a moment when he and Yennefer had scratched each other's eyes yet again and had abruptly parted."
http://aijaa.com/ZKFE6r
"The turning point was your parting. When did it happen? A year ago? Oh, how time flies..."

During Season of Storms Geralt and Yennefer had indeed scratched each other's eyes yet again and had abruptly parted.

Coral had a large fish tattoo on her hip. What happened to it?
http://aijaa.com/kS5lX8
"It's a wonder Lytta still has it, rather than magically removing it. ... ... ... Even if now it's passé and pompously banal."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MFGs9ET7dA
http://aijaa.com/xmK2dT
"I'm allergic! ... ... ... I always have been! I can't tolerate elixirs!"

Her sickness in the Blood of Elves is an allergic reaction. No one else got sick in the story and as a sorceress she should be immune. This is when she removed her tattoo.

There were two more clues in the Witcher 3.
http://aijaa.com/2Z46Hu
http://aijaa.com/EdIavk
First there is the use of hydromancy. In Season of Storms, Coral uses it to track Geralts stolen swords. And in the game she uses it to locate Philippa Eilhart.

Second clue is shipwatching.
http://aijaa.com/DiaWck
"... I know a spot where we can watch the ships."
http://aijaa.com/p21s7r
At the end of "Now or Never"-quest, if Coral is asked to stay in Novigrad, she'll take Geralt to the lighthouse. To watch the ships.

So there you have it. Real Triss Merigold of Maribor never appeared anywhere in the whole series. 8 books and 3 games and there is no Triss Merigold in them.

Ok... I lied. Im going to make some comments to the original post...

http://aijaa.com/GfCYrt
http://aijaa.com/e3O8jU
"It's pure, primordial Force! the druid yelled over the racket and clatter. ´She's got no control over it!´
http://aijaa.com/Ibm47A
"Didn't you know, witcher, that a virgin, that is one who's untouched, wouldn't be able to use the Force!"
(VOLUME WARNING)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oTj8cD81i0

Pavetta and Ciri both lose control of the Power for the same reason. They are still virgins.
But since Ciri uses her Elder Blood Power to end the White Frost at the end of the Witcher 3, it then means that she lost her virginity after the Battle of Kaer Morhen.

This is the catch: The dialog choices players make in the Witcher 3 only determine her survival, not her ability to control the Elder Blood.

When did Geralt and Ciri have their "quality time"?
After the battle of Bald Mountain, before returning to Novigrad.
Pay attention to the travel times.
From Bald Mountain to Novigrad it takes one week. It should not had taken so long. Unless the two did something that was carefully left out of the story.

Ever given any thought to this? At Kaer Morhen Avallac'h is trying to teach Ciri to control her abilities, but after they return to Novigrad this training is no longer mentioned. Its like the problem no longer exists.

One last thing...
Im just going to leave this here...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQxxZqnt99c
https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Witcher_experimentations_-_cont.

Before you ask who come Pavetta was both virgin and pregnant at same time. Well... There is one more secret in the books. Andrzej Sapkowski is grand making secrets like this.

Right now im dying to hear your counter arguments.
