How to craft glyphs & runestones...?
So I've searched around for an answer and all I see is it people having problems with crafting trying to use scavenged runestones/glyphs.

My problem is that I can't even find where to attempt to craft them, anywhere. I've gone to numerous craftsmen, master craftsmen even. I know I have collected some diagrams, but when I go to the crafting menu at a craftsman, all i get are weapons, gear, and crafting materials, but nowhere in any of the categories do I see "diagram: lesser glyph of (insert sign)" or anything.

I'm late game on my first and probably last playthrough. I just reached level 34 and thought it would be cool to get some mastercrafted witcher gear (which I've already got), fitted with some good glyphs and runestones"

Am I just looking in the wrong spot? Or has crafting these items been patched out of the game?

Its easy... When you are in inventory... just drag runestone into sword you are equipped with... same with armor, only difference is, they are improved by glyphs...

I understand how to install or apply a glyph/runestone into a sword/piece of gear, what I don't get is how to craft one. I literally just purchased a diagram for a greater glyph of quen and can't for the life of me find where in the blazes to go to actually craft it.

Yes, I'm aware of that as well. What I'm saying is that when I go to crafting, at a craftsman (armorer/blacksmith) that there are no glyphs or runestones to craft, even though I've collected numerous thoughout the game and even just bought one to be sure. If it's supposed to be in with the crafting components section, it's not there. That's what I'm trying to say.

Maybe that blacksmith is not skilled enough? Try going to a Master level craftsman.

You need the diagrams to craft them and go to a blacksmith, but in all honesty you prolly picked more than a couple high end ones, such as 30+ armor piercing. I'm not sure if you have the DLC's, but in heart of stone, there is a runesmith...Which you end up paying him like 40K in crowns so he can get his shop open.

Another quest, where you help the master herblist sells higher runes way cheaper than anyone else. Generally a 10% arrad Increase is about 2 grand, he sells them for a little over 900.

Greater rune is crafted by master armorer or smith, otherwise the diagram just wouldn't show up.
For a greater rune you need some normal runes, for normal runes you need some lesser runes, and to craft a lesser rune you need black pearl dust and some infused dust or whatever.

check the filters to make sure you aren't hiding the stuff that you don't have all the components for.

Runes are called upgrades in crafting screen and are listed last, for example when you talk to armorer, all your rune recipes appear after Trousers. Do you have anything showing up there or the whole Upgrades section is missing?

Ok, I seem to have made some progress. As tonypa asked, the whole upgrades section was missing. And it doesn't show up unless I actually purchase a diagram. None of the ones I've acquired throughout the game show up. Is this a glitch?

hm, I don't think I ever purchased rune diagram, only got them by looting stuff. There is big list of them for me.

If you can get them appear from purchased diagrams, I would settle with that, god knows what weird bugs game has. As long you can craft them now :)

Thanks, but I don't think I'm going to bother with it. I'm almost done with the story. I also have to use purchased runestones and glyphs, which makes me wonder why I've been saving and hoarding most of them throughout the game. Kind of a bummer. I'll just toss in whatever stones I've got and call it good enough.

I'm having the same issue and feel like I'm going crazy. I have crafted runes in the past (in the first few months the game was out) and now that I'm back on my second playthrough, There is no tab for crafting runes wherever I go. I know I have diagrams, and have gone to many different craftsmen, masters included. The only thing I can craft are blank lesser runes. OP, did you ever figure the issue out?
ButtHz 23 Thg08, 2016 @ 6:40am
No, it seems it's bugged, only.way it works is to actually purchase diagrams and runestones/glyphs. Trying to use anything you earned or looted in the world will prevent the crafting tab from showing up. Unless I'm missing something that is...

I had the same problem. What I had missed though was that the "Upgrades" drop down menu was hidden. So try clicking on the triangle so that it points upwards. That's how I found it anyway.

I have zero diagrams but millions of everything else
