[Gwent] The Nilfgaardian nobleman in the courtyard is impossible to beat
Talking about the one you meet right after your conversation with Yennefer. His deck is so ridiculously good compared to yours that you basically stand no chance. I must have tried 10 times and lost every time. He's got multiple heroes, strength 10 cards, spies, medics, everything. Meanwhile I've got regular strength 6 and 7 cards. No matter what I do, he'll always pull the perfect card to counter me. It feels like playing chess against someone who starts with 3 extra queens.

Can you return to this guy later, or is this just a sadistic joke put in by the developers mean to enrage you and discourage you from pursuing this game any further?

Yes, he is stronger than other starting gwent players. Just build your deck and return to him later. But, if you know how to play, you can still beat him, I did that with my basic deck.

Its not meant to be easy.
Get some better cards and return to him. Hes actually very easy afterwards

Return to him later after you gather the cards from Velen area and perhaps finish the Innkeepers Gwent quest.

He is not impossible to beat even with starter deck, I did that on my second playthrough when I was trying to fight him for fun. I got lucky with some good combos and he wasted all the heroes on one go.

Turn down the Gwent difficulty, whip his arse then turn it back up to normal.

I got lucky and beat him the second time, on hard gwent xD
He's not impossible, but it helps if you bought the cards from the inkeeper in White Orchad

What do you mean? It seemed like no matter what cards or strategy I used, he always had the perfect counter. Then he started whipping out heroes and 10 strength units. Last time I played him, he pulled out 2 heroes, 2 spies and a medic all in the same game.

I think the devs made a mistake putting him in that courtyard so early, he only serves to discourage new players and turn them off Gwent.
