Having Triss stay during "Now or Never" without romance option
Now I know there are novels worth of posts regarding this, and every single one says different.
In my latest playthrough, I tried all the different combinations of dialogue as you come out of the sewers, without using "I love you". No dice, she leaves without coming back, so I have to let Yennefer call her to Kaer Morhen later on..

There are clearly flags that needs to be raised for this to happen, one obvious that I can think of is during the kiss at the masquerade, and possiby a second when you are leaving Triss house and the land-lords ask for her necklace, and I assume letting them have it is the right answer here.

Is there any other obvious flags involving her interaction?
During this playthough I opted to not give her the Megascope Crystal during "Redania's Most Wanted", but instead give it to Yennefer, could that be something?

And the interogation scene at the "Count Reuven's Treasure" mission with the witch hunters, again I let them torture Triss so I could get as much information as possible out of Menge, with ultimatley ended with him attacking me when I asked for both the treasure for Dijkstra and Dandelion.

So my goal is to find the deffenite way to have Triss stay and not sail away for Kovir without having Geralt tell her he love her. Finding the rest of the possible flags and choose the right answer. Now this could clearly take some time, but maybe some of you guys have some input on this?

Or is it just simply impossible to have her stay and convince her not to leave for Kovir without romancing her?

As far as I know she only stays IF you ask her to stay, IF you say that you love her, and IF you kiss her at the masquerade ball. Even if you ask her to stay and say that you love her but you haven't kissed her at the party, she'll leave. This last part happened to me on my last playthrough and I had to reload a previous save, before going to the party !!!

Hmm, I kissed her during the party and asked her to stay (didn't say I love her) but she left. Can I still romance her later on?

Oh bummer. It was too early to have to pick between one of them. I guess I'll have to deal with it, thanks.

Pick neither. They are both ugly as sin without the magic and are just using you to further their own goals. Might as well run off with one of the bog witches.

This is how it works. If you romance her, kissed her at the fountain, told you loved her and asked her to stay, she will. But the bottom line is regardless of whether you do or not, Yen will always invite her to Kaer Morhen because it is scripted for her to be there. So, romance, she'll be there. Don't romance, she'll still be there.

Letting the landlords take her necklace is what SHE wants to have happen. If you prevent, she will be upset at you because she still felt as though she owed them her life despite the fact that later they were afraid enough to kick her out. They did hide her for quite a while and she wanted them to have the necklace. Most of all, she didn't want Geralt butting in.

That megascope crystal of Philippa's doesn't matter one damn bit. You can keep for yourself, give it to Yen or give it to Triss, even give it to Radovid -- it doesn't add anything to the gave and reall serves no purpose. If you give it to either Triss or Yen, they say they'll look into it but nothing comes of it. They never mention it again and no new information comes from it. If you keep it, it doesn't nothing except take up space in the Quest tab. If you give it to Radovid, he'll actually give you a reward because at least it showed you did something but again, apart from some gold coin, nothing.

When she leaves with the mages, regardless of your interaction with her, she is always scripted to return for the Battle at Kaer Morhen because Yen will summon her. As for Kovir, if you romance her, you'll leave for Kovir with her after the epilogue at game's end. If you didn't, she'll leave on her own for her new job there.

There really aren't any internal flags for her since her appearance at Kaer Morhen is scripted. Even if you completely avoid doing her Now or Never Quest, saying to hell with the mages, she won't have your help in getting them out and many of them will die but she'll still turn up at Kaer Morhen because of Yen.

This isn't a question of internal flags. It's a linear progression that's scripted. Of the people who HAVE to be at Kaer Morhen, she's one of them, right along with Ciri, Lambert, Eskel, Vesemir, Yen and Geralt. All the rest of the allies depend on your having completed their personal quests and having asked them to lend their support.

If you don't romance her, she has no reason to stay behind. Her duty, as she sees it, is to get the mages out of Novigrad before it's too late. Unless you romance her, nothing will stop her from leaving. And nothing will prevent her from turning up later on at Kaer Morhen because the game is coded to do that.

Okay?
I have been thinking this myself for the longest time, yes it is clearly scripted for her to show up in Kaer Morhen regardless of the outcome in Now or Never.
But with this being the internet, I guess this is one of those "legends" that float around here with pepople saying they were able to have Triss stay without romancing her so I grasped after straws myself.

From a pure game-design perspective it would indeed seems odd to have Triss stay by just asking her to, when you clearly already have two distinct choises, either let her go, or tell her you love her.

Kiss her at the ball, tell her you want her to stay and you love her, and ask the fat dude about his love story. I think the last part you gotta ask whats his fat face about his love life. Got it on the first play through.
helios396 Jul 22, 2016 @ 7:36am
She's not gonna stay after the Now or Never quest if you don't say you love her, which means locking Geralt into a relationship with her, not Yen. That's it.

Thing is, regardless of what your choice is, you'll not see her again in the game until Kaer Morhen. The only difference is whether Geralt will be in a relationship with her or not when she shows up again later. If yes, then she'll not leave for Kovir alone but wait until Geralt finishes everything and move there together.

I have this problem also. There are people that choose the option "let's try again" and Triss returned. Check out this video as one example of a case where you can make love with Triss in the lighthouse without saying I love you watch?v=1LzgvmZjlw4 and watch?v=1K_ORqfgJUA

Both videos were made in 2015. Is this is a glitch and later got patched? not sure. It's so mysterious, kinda frustrating actually.

So, to be clear, the only way to wind up with her romantically at the end of the game is if you take advantage of her in her drunken state in addition to other romantic choices? I essentially followed all of this progression except the fountain kiss. Lol

Just ask her to stay WITHOUT telling her you love her, she'll be at Kaer Morhen later anyway
