I was stuck on this last night trying to find out how to get to the boss after a couple of hours of searching came across this very helpfull video video is not mine but here you go if your stuck like i was

I had a hard time there as well but eventually managed to find the way up to the boss...

as the video suggest after you kill the boss you have to jump up to the upper level and read the journal as the video suggest I have not played this for a long time . Like a lot of games your character has to be at a certain location on the game map in order for a cut scene to be triggered in this case it seems to be the upper level you get to jumping on the barrals after you have killed the boss and read his journal though I do not know if reading the book would be needed or not . But it is getting to that spot on the map. That triggers the cut scene after you have killed the boss not killing the boss. jump up on the barrels as seen in the video and see if that works . If not maybe try leaving the base or lowering your graphics settings or something . hope that helps
