Blood and Wine doesn't seem much longer than Hearts of Stone?
CDPR says that HoS is 10 hours for the main narrative, and Blood and Wine is 20 hours for the main narrative.

However, it took me well over 10 hours to complete the HoS main plotline. At the same time, I have possibly played only around 12 hours of the Blood and Wine main plotline, and I seem close to the end already? (I am just going to begin "Storm the Castle" later)

theres an absolute ♥♥♥♥ ton of side content. side quests contracts, new mutagen level system, new grandmaster witcher armor you have to go find etc etc... dont know about the main quest havent finished it yet but i do know for sure there is an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of stuff to do in blood & wine. Witcher 3 has some of the best side questing in any RPG ever made.... take your time and get lost in them for a while and leave the main story alone.

Let's leave side quests out of this. Not everyone is a fan of side-quests and find that it doesn't fit in with the main narrative. Some people prefer to play a more "focused" game you know. Having said that, I did play a number of side quests.

This discussion is about the main quest content.

My knee jerk reaction is to say that B&W was of course longer... But thinking about it a little bit more, it's only slightly longer than the Hearts of Stone main quest, but to me, at least, B&W felt longer since it was a lot more satisfying and engaging. HoS, felt like a series of unconnected side quests from the main game that didn't have relevence until the very last quest.

Also, "Storm the Castle" is not close to the end. There's not that many quests left, but they're quite long, and the story has a big fork in it that with some mutual exclusive paths.

Incorrect, it was advertised as 10 hours of content for HoS and 20 hours of content for Blood and Wine. The content includes the main narrative and the side content.

I haven't played Blood and Wine yet, so I can't make a judgement there, but for the side content and the main narrative of HoS it took me 15 hours to complete 100% of that content, and going by what is known about Blood and Wine, no doubt it will take a lot more than 15 hours for that since it has a lot more content than HoS does.

I messed up and rushed through the main story and only doing maybe 5 side quests searching for armor upgrades and that new mutagen thing. Probably took me 20 hours just to do those. Hell I only played gwent a few times and it seems you can play gwent with 80% of the merchants. I rarely fast travel so that might be why it took me so long. there's still tons of stuff to explore and to do.

My next run I plan to try and do everything before finishing the main quest. I might even take the other path in the main quest just to mix things up. Failed one quest rushing through. that won't happen again.

I spent several hours only repairing my vineyard, placing pictures on walls, armour and weapons on stands, reading new-bought books and exploring the cellar. Probably six or seven hours until i got drunk with my majordomo.

Strongly depends on how you would play the game :)
