After I start DLC and go to their areas can I return to Velen / main game areas?

So after I go to the new areas can I still come back and finish quessts in the main areas like velen, novigrad, etc or will I be stuck in the dlc areas?

Yes, you can easily travel between Toussaint and the other areas.

But from a story point of view, the events in Toussaint happen after the events in The Northern Realms, so I would go there after finishing all the quests if I were you. It just makes more sense

I am planning to finish the main story which I will soon, I will leave over some contracts and side stuff is that ok? I've finished th emajor character side stuff and will have done the main quest before I set off.
