Is it worth buying without the expansions?
Title explains it all. Is the game worth it even without Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine? Thanks for any answers

EDIT: Seems like most people say it is, and with what I'm hearing its minimum 100 hours playtime (if you include everything in the game) so its most likely worth it. Will consider buying expansions next sale. Will keep up this thread for anyone else who has the same question.

Thanks everyone again.

I am trying to start the expansions currently thus I can not comment on their worth, though I believe they are worthy of it, the basic game is not a masterpiece but decent. I had not have any complaints besides that is was not a masterpiece when I finished it last year. I believe it kept my interest for those 100 hours I played, while you could make it 130(150?) if you consider collecting all thos crap treasures and visiting every island on Skellige with who-knows-what there is.

Yes, very much so. Both of the expansions have quests with very high recommended levels so they're essentially designed to be played after the overwhelming majority of the main game is complete.

I very much recommend the expansions, but even if you bought them now you wouldn't even be ready to delve into any of the expansion content for around 100 hours of gameplay at minimum.

well 100 hours already sounds like the base game is worth enough, I'll buy the expansions next time they go on sale. Thanks to you both
Yes, it is.

The main game has 200+ hours of content and more. ;)

You need for Skellige to complete everything and get every "?" on the map, more then 150 hours. I needed 120 hours but i used also a mod which removed the weight limit but never used fast travel and it is my third run so knew most of treasures and where i can find them

But as i wrote in other threads, for a first run and if it should be a 100% run i would say the main game have 300+ hours if you not using fast travel. Also there a many hidden quest which get be missed because you triggered a other quest.

I missed only one quest because i didn't knew you have to do it before you trigger a other quest. The problem is you have to know which quest you should not trigger but the problem is this quest triggers automatic in a sidequest as a new sidequest.

About the "Skellige with who-knows-what there is" you need everything if you have Blood and Wine because if you sell everything you can get more then 60'000 crown which you need for the 1 1/2 Grandmaster Witcher Sets because they cost you 30-40k per Set.

There is absolutely no logic in that comment...
Thanks for not even trying to help and saying why its wrong :p

What I meant is that a game, where people say you can get atleast a minimum of 100 hours from playing it is most likely worth buying because it will keep you busy for a long time.

The minimum is 30-35 hours if you play only the main story....

So there is really no logic in your comment because it is totally wrong :P

Nope played the main Story only (with the Sidequest you need to make the main story), in my second run, without skipping and i needed only 35 hours ;)

You can try it ;)

Ah I understand sorry.
Well I heard sidequests were like the best thing in this game so it would be weird not doing any sidequests or such stuff :p

Unless you were on deathmarch crossbowing outside of enemy rubberbands....there is no way in hell the mainline takes 30 hours....maybe 15-18. The game is still great, and worth what you paid for it.

jeez can anyone decide already :p
I mean I already decided I'll buy it but still.
Honestly its kind of funny that nobody can agree on playtime :p

Because different people play differently. The difficulty could affect the playtime since it is a real challenge on the highest level.
