I don't recall doing anything Gwent related with Triss so I must have missed it. What else/cards are required for the Collect 'em all quest? I thought this might have been a longer term quest collecting more cards so I was confused as to why I had failed it. Does this have any negative effect on getting all of the Gwent cards or Gwent achivements? I've only started to take Gwent more seriously.
I'm confused as to what Gwent quests actually make up the Collect 'Em All quest. Is it a string of Gwent quests or just Triss's Gwent quest?
However, despite not being a fan of gwent, I wanted full completion, so before starting Newgame+ I printed out all card decks and had the Collect them All walkthrough open on my second monitor. I began playing Gwent and marked every single card that I got from the start. There are cool mini-quest lines like the Passiflora tournament that are quite interesting.
Apart from that, you gotta use a walkthrough because quite many merchants and players are missable, or related to another quest or a questionmark location, or only temporarily available. Having a visual list of card collections is also very handy.
Right ok, so as soon as you fail one of the gwent quests you fail the Collect 'Em All quest?
I was confused as to why I had failed this so early but I think I get it now.
Yeah, when I first started the game I didn't realise gwent was such a big thing and that is was linked to so many quests. I suppose it's ultimately about collecting all of the cards and being the master gwent player right? Since I've got the hang of the game I quite enjoy it and I've won a lot of cards. I've also backtraked to buy and win all of the cards I can. I'm guessing though that to win some of the hardest gwent challenges you should of obtained all of the unique cards and ulitimately this is what gwent is about?
I don't get what you mean. Still get the achivement for what? and still get what cards?
The Gwent quest series are ultimately to get all cards and play with all the players. It's a game within a game, so unless you start it at the begining, you won't get it all done, and if you don't get it done - you won't get all the cards.
If you don't have some of the essential Hero/Leader cards, you'll have a hard time during the tournament quests, because everyone will have better cards.
Like I said before, you cannot backtrack in some cases, because the players are related to a quest and it becomes unavailable upon completing the line. Same reason why some merchants are not available before you complete a quest or one of the ? locations.
Also the Gwent quest series can award you with golden Hero card or Leader card, and it's the completion of the quest that leads to you getting the achievement.
This is why you might be able to get some of the cards later in the expansions, as a second chance, but you still won't get the achievements, because they're related to the quest only.
The only way to get it all done is if you get a list and follow the walkthrough during your second game run. It sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but if you enjoy it, it's all good.
