New Mutation System
Hey is it worth using the new mtuation system?
How does it work? I mean are they just passives you just active that remain perma active?
Can you try out different builds and reset mutegons since it does consume ability points?

Very worth it if you utilize the passives with your build.

For example, if you go heavy on alchemy, you can get a mutation that gives you a LARGE PERCENTAGE BOOST (Max of 250%) for BOTH SIGN INTENSITY AND SWORD DAMAGE based on current toxicity! Couple this with Manticore Set's +toxicity and other such skills and you can run 4-5 decoctions all the time = OP build...

It's all about strategizing the mutations chosen. Of course, the 2 extra skill slots for a measly 8 skill points, which you get by unlocking 4 out of the 6 low leveled mutations is a bonus...

Just keep playing. The game tells you everything and is easy to adapt to your preffered playstyle once you try something new.

Can you reset it though?

yes you can reset everything, it just needs a potion worth 1000 bucks.
on death march, it is necessary to go with the second life mutation for example because your dps is more than enough, but you take alot of damage, so a second life is the best to go for

Is the AARD mutations worth it?

Are they?

Are AARD builds now worth using?
Volrishan Jun 21, 2016 @ 3:51pm
is the aard mutation is very worth it, it does massive damage and slows down everythign that does not completely freeze. anything that does freeze solid gets instantly killed. although yes you can reset the mutations it is not really worth doing since you only get back the skill points and not the greater mutagen that were used. plus the 4 new slots unlock with 2,4,8 and 12 mutations that you have unlocked.

How do you research mutagens?

mutations use mutagens and ability points to unlock. mutagens are the green, blue and red ones you have been using through out the game. you get random drops of the 3 colours, generally in lesser form and have to combine them up to make greater mutagens in alchemy. in the blood and wine expansion you can get recipies to transmute them to different colours like blue to red but it takes some rare mats only found when you upgrade your home.

My home? Is that for completing the story?
Am I better off just getting the greater mutageons on my own?

the vineyard you get in blood and wine dlc can be upgraded. it is the only place to get the rare plants needed to transmute the colours. and you will need alot of red mutagens if you want to get all the mutations to unlock the 4 new skill slots. the red mutagens are extremely hard to get thanks to a poor drop rate and patches that stopped people from farming them.

you get the vineyard home pretty early in the blood and wine story line
