Extreme Cosplay bug
In Blood and wine expansion, on extreme cosplay quest, I kept dying over and over on deathmarch, so went up the stairs at the side. I saved, game crashed, loaded it back up and now it thinks I have completed the quest. After conversation the enemies are still there.

I had another variant of this, no crashes tho, went up the stairs too. But in my case the AI just completely broke, they didnt chase me up there and even when they had clear line of sight - no attacks. But as soon as i crossed the line at the foot of the stair they jumped me again. Managed it then with some extraordinarly lucky Quening. :D

Headed up the stairs for some breathing room. The mages are what makes this fight so hard, especially on death march. Getting hit with a fireball even once knocks your health all the way down.

Its a known issue, bug reports have been made to devs. I heard the trick is to use high level aard and keep knocking down the flame throwing chicks, while they are down attack them first.

A huge issue with this quest is when you load the checkpoint if you die the enemies attack you before Geralt enters combat mode. That needs to be what the devs fix first I think.

And this isn't the only fight in the game with this issue. Heck, even Witcher 2 had this problem (namely the Draug fight).

Bugged on me when I tried to load a quicksave after heading up the stairs. After many attempts, and loading an earlier checkpoint save I was able to beat the quest properly. I'm at level 71 playing on an NG+ Deathmarch difficulty.

Like most people have said, Northern Wind bombs are the way to go. I ran to the far end of the garden and prep'd Chort decoc, NW, and Quen. Threw a bomb near the mages, freezing the spearmen as well. Once frozen, I ran in and killed 1 mage with strong attacks (3-5 hits). Threw NW, then killed the other mage. I then Igni spammed the heck out of the spearmen.

finally managed to beat this quest without glitching it... best thing ever: re-equip your own sword... remember you're forced to have the crappy quest sword equipped. also, dont forget to try and avoid the rear corner, if you get the lord of the area killed the next phase might not trigger and he can die.
