Djinn fight seems bugged with autoscale on

This is my first playthrough so im not sure what is working as intended. I am on broken bones difficulty wth the new autoscale on.
On yennifers quest the djinn boss would just 1 shot me when the fight started . I could quickly cast quen and survive but its attacks multiple hit so could still get instakilled.
I tried about 5 times and couldnt go near it to attack, tried things like the potion that gives quen if you take more than a third damage, however the damage is a total one shot on all its attacks. Also tried using the silver bombs but it could ranged one shot me at anytime. I might be able to cheese the fight with the crossbow abusing standing on the top of the ship where it wont reach.


It seemed like something was wrong so I turned autoscale off and its attacks went from one shotting me to doing 10-20% (at most) damage, the fight suddenly became easily doable and i could actually hit it in melee. So to me it seems like a bug?

What level were you? That's a level 16 or so quest so I assume the Djinn is level 16. It may not be a bug per se, just a balance issue depending on how much the Djinn was upscaled.

im level 22, and yes i assume thats what the bug is.

yeah same happen to me, i'm almost 10 levels above 15.

but i reloaded a older save after reading ur post and it worked.

Freakin' same thing is happening with me right now, I am level 25.

Lol, I am also 10 levels above the level needed. Can you tell me about the older save you reloaded ? How old was it ? As old as to restart whole quest again ?

Just turn autoscale off for the fight then turn it back on after, it rescales the boss instantly so you dont need an old save or anything.

WTF. I did try this 'turning off auto scaling' before, it didn't help at that time.
But now when you suggested it. I thought what the hell, let's turn it back on and off again.

Tried the fight at L21 Death March! difficulty and enemy upscaling on, I was one shotted as others have said instead of turning off the upscaling I decided to enter 'likeaboss' in the console to see what his health is - each shot from the Xbow did 87K+ dmg - that's just nuts!

Oh, and I got a whopping 2xp for completing the quest! Dumb just gets dumber.

Which is ironic since giving yourself the best possible end game items on the easiest difficulty and the max level is essentially godmode anyway.

Djinn and rats, yep. Otherwise the encounter is not that hard at all.

Yeah, I'm a level 100 that does on average 13k damage a swing. I should be DESTROYING it. But it's one shotting me right when I load in...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

arrgghh...this game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken, with enemy upscale, i get one shot, otherwise, i killed him with 7 strokes

as a side note u probably could fix this with a trainier using godmode for the fight. though i do not like using "god-like" cheats. as this is suposed to be a chill playthrough id prefer not to break imersion etc with a trainier or even console for that matter.
