Pop In Graphics
Greetings. I have my game running at a steady, playable fps for the majority of the time, but I'm having issues with textures popping in. This is most evident in Novigrad, however it can occur in other areas. I've looked at some graphics guides, but I haven't really found any solutions for it. This pop in is only prevalent in The Witcher. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Specs for reference:
i5 4690 @ 3.8ghz
8gb RAM
750ti 2gb
Game is running on a 7200rpm drive.
Thank you for your time.

these texture pop in issues have plagued this game ever since ts launch. even after i moved my game installation to SSD it still happens. it happens on my other computer... it happens on all my friends PC's who own this game. if you google this issue it effects a huge amount of players. its an issue with the game engine itself.

i don't think CDPR will be able to fix this issue given how long its been around.

this is just 1 of many, many, many bugs that annoy me about this game.

I see. Thank you for your input, sir.

What kind of pop in do you mean?

This is an open world game. Pop in is a given since it renders what is around you with distance assets rendered at a lower quality.

I've not noticed any unusual close up pop in, other than NPCs.

Lower settings will have assets load rather close, well within view.

There are ini tweaks or mods you can to use improve it but sadly your gpu will not be able to handle these changes.

I'm running the game on High settings. If I so much as jog into Novigrad I can stare at 2d texture buildings for about 10 to 15 seconds until they load. NPCs will materialize right next to me. I understand that texture streaming has its limits, and that Novigrad is very demanding, but it seems overly prevalent.

My game doesn't do that on high preset settings. I suggest you go into your document and find witcher 3 folder. Underneath the savegames file will be 3 stuff. Settings related files. Delete those. Kbow that you will have to change everything in your games settings again. Good luck.

i stll get these issues on a GTX 1080 (Mainly NPC Pop ins during cinematics, Geralts hair / beard or himself in general during cinematics, etc)... so i doubt its an issue related to your system / GPU. its purely related to the game.

there are several posts made about this issue. there are several ini tweak guides that supposedly help alleviate this issue... including a geforce tweak guide from nvidia.

check texture streaming tweaks - http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide

Thank you both. I will try those methods out.

I've not noticed anything unusual, besides the NPCs popping up occasionally. Had one spawn in front of the cutscene camera before... Just some dumb farmer's mug blocking half the shot. Quite funny, though.

Could be that you're running on an HDD. Could be background processes hogging resources.

How many resources do you have running? You'll want as little as possible running.

The only processes I have going while playing are the OS (Windows 7) and Steam.
My GPU hits full usage, but my memory and CPU still have some reserves.

You have more than that running.

Check your task manager. You'll have multiple sections and each section will have a number of running processes (Active, background, Windows). Add them up.

This is not about usages on CPU, GPU, or memory. This is about your drive. I have suspicion that you have something using your drive while you game.

I'll be away from my system until Monday, but I'll add that info once I'm on it. You could very well be correct.
