The moment I figured this out is the moment I was able to finally beat him.
Pretty much everything in the game, including difficcult fights such as Iris's nightmare from Heart of Stone, was easy but for Detlaff I had to turn the difficulty down. First phase was a joke, lasted less than a minute, but then he just oneshots me every time, through Quen.
TBH the damage of the bat attack is just ridiculous, even on the LOWEST difficulty it breaks my Quen and took of about 2000 hp afterwards. This is literally more damage than any other boss does on Deathmarch.
then u continue to dps him and he should die before u will waste all of your White Raffards.
Anyway, you need to roll at the right timing, just before the attack lands. I actually dodged it a couple times simply by rolling backward at the right timing.
Point still stands, the fight is a complete heap of ♥♥♥♥ and shouldn't exist. Stage 1 and 3 are cool and fun but stage 2, ♥♥♥♥ that. Pointless imbalanced waste of time.
