You don't have to do i during the quest. you can come back later. I just tested that.

the quest just gives you the sword you lost at the start of w2 cause of certian dragon or you sold it.

Someone mentioned that in the quest ‘Equine Phantom’ the old woman has no money so do not accept her potato’s gets you generosity, but someone else said that they didn't get the option to not accept, can't remember this quest myself, so might be bulls hit, just throwing it out there.
