I think you can start with the other players like Roche or Lambert.

Lambert seems to be gone after the Battle of Kaer Morhen and Roche doesn't give me the option for Gwent. Also tried Thaler since the Geralt card is the main reason I wanted to start the quest.

I think all the main characters disappear after you finish the main story which sucks.

Check your quest log, if the collect them all quest is failed, then you're screwed.
