Is there any difference between choosing one quest over the other to do first?

No not really

You need to do both to progress the campaign. Does not really matter which you do first. If there is a level difference, I would usually do the lowest level quests first.

I think there is only one big difference

If you do the Ladies of the Wood first, the demon tree would dictate future events. However, on the other hand, I don't think you could do anything on the Baron that would affect anything.

So, it may be potentially better to do the Baron first, but not a huge deal.
