I'm in pretty much the same boat, but I'm not worried about it. There's just no chance that they'll force a higher spec requirement on people.
Extremely doubt they will release it as a separate title considering they said it's free to people who already own the OG game (so it can't be a separate title), there is even a bigger chance they will make it an update that you have to install then a separate title.
still most likely it will be a free DLC.
So, if it's an update, you already know what to expect.
Well, "no chance" is a bit off, I think.
Ubisoft updated AC Origins (5 year old SP game) and now it doesn't work on windows 7 anymore. And they updated their launcher too so that it only will work with a workaround on win7 (and who knows how long this lasts).
Too many people do not complain about things like this, even defend it in some ridiculous way, so it becomes standard.
:/
But I hope you're right in this situation. ;)
In what world do you think the company would force the entire W3 user base to install and enable a hardware-intensive update that would almost certainly render [heh :x] the game unplayable in some cases + every case involving the Steam Deck?
You're clearly not the only one expressing this concern, so I'm not criticizing you personally; I'm highlighting a really bizarre source of anxiety that has no foundation in reality.
I don't work for CDPR, but since I'm also not crazy: as sure as the sun rises, CDPR will not make the next gen update mandatory. The reason they won't make it mandatory is that they aren't crazy.
That said, if anyone has any "hoW DO yOu kNOw THat For sURE?!?" nonsense to get out of their system, now's a good time. I mean, I won't reply, but you've got a clean shot.
I wish Bethesda and Todd Howard would take this to heart. No offense, but you're only seriously asking this question if you came into game modding fairly recently. Companies really don't seem to give a rat's ass about breaking mods; nor should they, really. That said, CDPR is exceptional in that their games are piss easy to mod.
LMAO I lived thru that when Bethesda re-re-re-released Skyrim again and broke mods. Oh the freakouts. Many of us had 300-400 mods installed and the thought of them not working was almost too much to bear. The big diff is that Skyrim in its base state looks like garbage. Modded properly it blows Witcher 3 out of the water, and W3 is a good looking game make no mistake.
