Achievements Questions regarding Base game vs GOTY

IF i already own the original base game and expansion pass, can I purchase the GOTY edition as a separate game to play through again for all achievements? Or will they just count as the same game and so essentially I would pay extra for nothing?

I'm pretty sure it's the same game, GOTY just means you have all the expansion content but it has no other differences. At least for me if I look up The Witcher 3 in store it says I own both base game and the GOTY version but only one appears in my library.

Thanks. Yes it ssays the same for me. There a lot of games where the GOTY has been treated as a new game so we could get all the achievements again. Such as Metro franchise, Deus Ex Human Revolution and so on. That's a shame. I was getting prepped for a grind again haha
