Does starting a New Game + at a really high level affect witcher gear schematic levels?
I started my New Game + at level 53, and I was surprised to find that the levels of all the enemies and missions started a lot higher than I anticipated. I had assumed that the starting level of, well, everything would be closer to 40, and while I don't mind the extra challenge (though I do mind the faster obsolescence of my grandmaster armor), I am concerned about what this means for the Legendary Witcher Gear schematics.

As such, I'm asking if the level I start a New Game + at also affects the level at which I can use any particular set of Witcher gear.

The level you ended playthrough will become new level 1 in NG+. Suppose you were level 30 when finishing main quest, you started NG+. Now enemies that are normally level 1 will be level 30, quests that would be level 10 become level 40, items that required level 20 will now require level 50.

Same way, if you were level 53 to start NG+, lowest level enemy you fight will be level 53, replacing level 1 enemy. Quest that was marked as level 15 is now 15+53=68. And all witcher gear is also 53 levels higher. For example Superior Griffin Steel Sword is level 26 in base game, for your NG+ it becomes Legendary Superior Griffin Steel Sword and requires level 26+53=79

Well, s***. Thank you for the reply, but wow I'm now just a little bit depressed. That basically means that I'm going to need to be level 93 to use any of the Legendary Grandmaster Armors, and I don't look forward to that.

Sigh. Oh well, so be it. I suppose it's still possible to hit level 93 in Toussaint, right? I'm currently it level 57-58 in Velen, and I admit that I was able to level up remarkably quickly back in White Orchard. I just wish that my equipment wasn't so ridiculously outclassed already.

Incidentally, would my Aerondight sword still be able to hold up for the rest of the game? I know that it's supposed to be able to permanently increase damage the more you use it, but I have no idea yet how well it holds up against the legendary witcher swords.

You can reach level 100 in the game.

Yes, Aerondight is only piece that levels up with you. But mostly, forget your grandmaster gear, you will find better stuff from dead downers.

I started NG+ at level 54 or 55 and the legendary grandmaster gear was at level 92 or 93. I reached the level cap of 100 after completing the main game story but well before completing the B&W or HOS stories so 92/3 wasn't a problem. I also found the original Aerondight levelled up better than the one gained in NG+. Bit frustrating being capped at 100 for so long though.

Not true when you factor in resistance bonuses on armors. Grandmaster armors from regular new game won't be outclassed in NG+ for some time due to their high resistance bonuses. Armor is only a 1 for 1 damage reduction so it's not worth ditching your GM ursine with 74% monster reduction for a Skellige gambeson with 100 more armor but no resistance to monsters.

As it stands right now my GM feline armor offers much better resistance to monsters than any heavy armors I'm finding in NG+.

Swords are another matter since having higher damage is typically much better than the side bonuses they offer.
