What's the highest level you can start NG+ on and not have any gear be over level 100?
(Playing on GoG, but takes forever to get responses on their forums)

So, as I understand it, the game basically bumps levels based on what you were when you started your NG+. So if you're level 40, a level 36 quest will be level 76 in your NG+.

What level do you need to be to get the highest set-level gear to be level 100?

They fixed it in a patch so that the gear did not go over 100. More significantly however is that it's very easy to max yourself at 100 before the end of the game. I started a NG+ at level 54 and reached 100 after completing the main story (but not all the side quests) and well before I completed the main HOS and B&W stories.
similar thing on my end i started NG+ on Death March at level 55. the only difference is that most of your gear from previous playthrough is quite useless aside from best silver sword in B&W The Aerondight.

Actually your high level armors remain useful due to resistance bonuses. Sure armor you find in Ng+ will have a higher armor rating, but armor is only a 1 for 1 damage reduction, so you get much better protection from something with high resistances.

For example, my grandmaster feline armor is providing much better protection than the sets of Nilfgardian plate I'm finding since it offers a 30% reduction on monsters and a 70% reduction on elemental damage (the type of damage that specters deal), while the plate armor offers no resistance to either of those.

So... the gear will never go over level 100 then?

But quests and enemies still do? Or has that been fixed too?

I've not had a quest go over 100, I think I may have seen a level 102 enemy but that may have been before the last patch.

So... what would happen if someone got their level to 100 before starting an NG+?
I mean, yeah, they'd have to cheat for it I'm sure, but curious as to how the NG+ would play out.

Gear tops out at 100, so once you get there, you'll never have to worry about level requirements. OTOH, Aerondight is about useless if you get it at level 100. It's seriously under your level as far as requirements, but since you can't gain any more levels, it won't scale more than the initial 30 damage points. Should have held onto the one from the regular playthrough.

Monsters will generally top out at 100, but I've run into a couple of 102s and 103s. Not often, but enough to notice it. Nothing red-skulled since hitting 100, though. And I haven't seen a quest level over 100 (I'm in B&W and they're all 100).

So, if I start my NG+ at already 100... that won't be a problem anymore?

Not a problem per se but you'll be playing through with a pretty static set up, no new skill points so no new skills, monsters all pretty much the same. The point of NG+ for me was to develop skills further than could be done in the first playthough so for me I see little point in doing NG+ starting at 100.

Yes, I'm still using the original Aerondight. The NG+ version just could not scale enough with the level cap and would never catch up with the original.

I don't really mind not having anything new. The main point of doing an NG+ if I end up doing so is just to see different choices.
