Whats up with the walk speed, am i missing something.
I played this on xbox when it first released and loved it. So after all that time, GOTY edition comes out on PC.....so I buy. But the movement is so fast, what happened to the very slow walk. I feel like i am running everywhere. Any fixes for this.

Are you actually walking? Did you press ctrl?
XxXBman006XxX Sep 9, 2016 @ 8:58pm
Actually no, I am playing on an xbox controller. I am saying when i first played, the left analog stick you could slightly push and geralt would walk VERY slow. Now no matter how I push the left analog stick, its always a constant speed. I used to be able to go into witcher mode and creep around, now it just feels really fast. I have found some forums about this, seems like it was changed after 1.07 and no fix for it. I am sad.....this movement change is ruining the best game I have ever played.

Yup. Fast walk is the only walk speed.
Devs patched out the slower walk.
It doesn't bother me at all.
Im sorry bro. Get used to it. Not a big deal bruh. Have fun.

If you play with keyboard you can swap between walk and run speeds using left CTRL. I don't know how it works for controller.

You're ruining the experience. The beauty of playing on PC is two-fold. First is potentially much better graphics, but the second is inarguably the much better playing experience using a proper keyboard and mouse.

After 25 years of playing on keyboards and mouse, playing with an analogue controller is arguably much better than using a dab,dab.... repeat. Racing sims, flight sims and even -shock- TW3. Dodge, roll. Strike hard and fast and instantly direct at individual opponents spells *without* locking onto targets. The ability to pan fluidily around whilst attacking and using the above on a controller has nothing to do with console vs PC. It's just being pedantic -for want of a better word.... The BEAUTY of the PC is that it can take ANY controller you want or combination of.

It works PERFECTLY on my PC wired XBox controller? Just tried it and i can walk or run. Win 7 here. Might be a Win10 issue.

I've just looked in the options/key bindings and it states "Walk/Run" as ONE key bind. So no, they haven't removed 'walk'.

I have Windows 10 and have no issue with walking on my wired Xbox 360 controller. So I think that can rule out win10 being an issue.

Right on man. Been PC gaming for like 15 years. Right now I have G502 mouse, Logitech G13 game pad (like a one hand keyboard with analog stick), Xboxone controller, and keyboard on my desktop, I use them all and frequently use a STEAM controller with Gyros at my buddies house. PC gaming is about freedom !

Here is how I've played some of my games.

Battlefield 3/4 - Logitech G13 + mouse ( 700Hours ! ) sometimes STEAM controller
Rome 2 Total war - Logitech G13 + mouse ( 800 hours !)
Crysis 3 - Xboxeone + mouse (yes same time)
Rocket League - Xboxone
Xcom 2 - Mouse only
Side scrollers - Xboxone
Borderlands 2/TPS - Xboxone
Shadow of Mordor - Xboxone
America's army STEAM controller
Wolfenstien TNO/TOB Xboxone
Metro LL/2033 Xboxone

+1 Been gaming on rigs for 25.
And yes I do also play with a G13, G600, just not on Witcher.

And I guess I did not come through crystal clear. When I first played, before patch 1.07......depending on how much you tilted the stick you could adjust the speed. So you could say apply very little pressure to move VERY SLOW.......a little more pressure to move SLOW.......a little more pressure to WALK.......and maxing it out you are at a JOG then you could hold A for your run or what ever button. As it is now it seems FAST WALK and JOG are the only options now.....and the run of course.

But anyways, I found a mod that returns it to the way it was in vanilla.........and another one that was nice to pull the FOV out a bit and stop zoom also at focus mode.

For anyone not happy with the Walk Change from Vanilla, these helped out with that a ton for me.

1. Immersive Motion - Stand-alone by KCs

2. Wider Field of View and no Focus Mode zoom in. by Goat of Death

:o I'd love to hear more on why KB+M PC people'd prefer controller. Especially specific example of sg hard to do with KB+M but not with controller.

It depends on a few different things.

First I'd never attempt to use an Xboxone controller for any online RTS, Strategy, or FPS. The precision and natural feel of a mouse can not be touched by any other peripheral, though I will state that the STEAM controller with proper Gyro setup can get close enough that I can play for hours on BF4 and not feel like I'm at much of a disadvantage, I'm getting really good with it and regularly have a positive ratio on the servers I play on.

2nd I couldn't imagine trying to play Rocket League with anything but an Xbox/PS4 controller. I've got like 200 hours in Rocket League.

Xboxone controller has a couple things going for it that a standard keyboard doesn't.
=Two Analog sticks and Two analog triggers.=

The other thing is Xinput which is recognized by the majority of games today, this gives you access to the games built in Shift keys and double keys etc, which are often difficult to try and replicate on non native paripherals. I'd need to learn to code/script in order to do some of these things on a G13 keypad, which at least has a legit Xinput analog stick for my thumb, which is awesome!

I'll give you the first two.

But any first or third persion game are best played with keyboard and mouse, if only because combining steering and camera into one control is the norm, whereas the norm for controllers is to seperate them, and that's...bad.

again depends on the game. For TW3 and some other third person games that were built with the gamepad in mind the gamepad works better by far than the mouse/keyboard for myself. For all First persons, and third persons that were built for keyboard/mouse only then the keyboard/mouse are far better.
