Console Commands to Remove leftover quest items

We've all seen how this game tends to leave random things stuck in your inventory long after their related quests have completed. Can't drop them, can't sell them, just permanently stuck with them.

Over the years I've gathered a list of console commands that remove most of these specific items from my inventory, so I'd like to share my list with other players (see code box below). The easiest way to use it is to copy/paste the whole thing into a Notepad text file and save it. You can then copy the individual command and paste it into the game console window on an as-needed basis.

Obviously, you should only remove these items AFTER you are certain that its related quest has totally completed. Removing quest items while a quest is still open can cause quests to break, or worse; so, use your head before doing things like this.

Also, remember that there are some items that remain in your inventory because they are supposed to remain there. For example, there are at least 3 variations of "Letter of Safe Conduct", the Eye of Nehaleni, Magic Lamp, etc. My list does NOT include commands to remove such items because you should not use the console to forcibly remove those particular items. My list only provides for the removal of items that are safe to remove, and I have tested and done these many times over the years without problems.

I hope this list saves people a lot of Internet searching and experimenting.


Updated 2022-6-28 to include some items leftover from The Lord of Undvik questline.
Note that the command to remove the "Nails" only removes 1 nail at a time, so if you have 31 "Nails" you have to repeat the command 31 times, that's just the way it works.

This will be my last update of this post. After 7 years playing Witcher 3, I think I've played it through enough times and am unlikely to play it yet again.


Listed below are 5 items for which I have never found the Item ID's to remove them.
If anyone finds any of these codes please post here as it may help others.

Key to Prison

Found at Kaer Almhult island prison in Skellige, where you go to find the Ursine Steel Sword upgrade diagram during Scavenger Hunt: Bear School Gear Upgrades Part 2. It opens the "sky cell" prison cell.

Orders from Robin

Leftover from "The Last Exploits of Selina's Gang" B&W side quest. Found in a sack next to treasure chest in the Temple Cemetery crypt.

Merten's Notes

Leftover from B&W Scavenger Hunt: Grandmaster Manticore Gear. Found in small chest near Mystery Man in the Murky Delve cave.

Orders on Bloody Parchment

Found on a body on a cart northeast of Fox Hollow after you liberate that B&W village from bandits. Letter is from Loth Halfbreed (boss of the nearby underground Hanse base) but stays marked as a quest item even after completing both quests.

Perfume-Laced Journal

Leftover from "But Other Than That, How Did You Enjoy the Play?" B&W side quest at Seidhe Llygad Amphitheater.

Hello. Do you by chance have the item codes for the following: Shaelmaar Bait, Bundle of Burdock, Old Wine From Toussaint, Damaged Eyes, and Wolf Heart? My apologies if they are in fact in your list; I may just be misreading the descriptions.

You can use console command ShowItemNames(true). It will add yellow text "Item name: 'something'" to tooltips.

Bro thank you so much. The wolf mask was bugged, stuck on my face with no slotted item. Then putting on the other 2 masks would just swap those 2 masks on top of the wolf mask. My game was either using harlequin/wolf or Bird/wolf mask bugged on my face. Removing mask 01, 02 and 03 removed all 3 masks from my inventory/game and fixed this, thanks a lot.
