Cat School Diagrams Scavenger Hunt Part 3 - Steel Sword glitch
I'm having some *extreme* difficulties with getting the steel sword diagram for the Cat school gear part 3 - Early in the game, i used the developer console to give myself all of the diagrams and such for each armor set, but the quests were still there. So, i started doing all of the quests. However, while most of them worked fine, once i got to the Steel sword diagram for the Cat school part 3, in the grotto/cave with the golem, i just... couldn't interact with the chest. If i use my witcher senses, it highlights the chest, but as soon as i get close, the "loot chest" button shows up for a split second, and then both it and the witcher sense highlight disappears, as though i've already looted the chest. But i haven't and the quest still tells me i need to find the diagram. Is there any way to bypass this? i've tried reloading the area, removing the diagram from my inventory by console command, everything. I was going to see if i could use the console to force the quest to progress by the addfact command, but can't find the code that would correspond to this quest. Is there any way to get past this and complete the quest?

You have the diagram. You get no exp from those quest. 0. the witcher diagram quest dont give exp. You effectively took away the only reason to even do the quest by console commanding the diagrams in.

My suggestion would be just to ignore the quest.

Why do you need the diagram if you already have it?

I get that that's what "logically" makes the most sense, but i want to be able to just mark the quest as complete in the journal. Is there any way to do that?

I doubt it. You console commanding them in is most likely confusing the game so to speak.

The game thinks you have the diagram because you do. But it also hasnt registered that you did the quest. Because you havent.

This is the kinda thing you should think about before using console commands. While being relatively safe to use. They can cause side effects such as this.

Especially when you console command something in thats part of a quest

Yeah, i get that part. I'm not asking for a reason to not use console commands, i'm just asking if there's a way to force-complete a quest.

and what I said isnt a reason not to use console commands. What I said Is a reason for you to consider whether or not you truly want to use them for whatever your trying to use them for. . Meaning you will accept the concesequences. Or atleast think about it before hand.

Prevention is better then cure. Meaning you can prevent such issues just by giving thought.

Oh if i console command it in that might mess up the quest. Am I willing to mess up the quest?

Considering you want the quest completed. You probably didnt want to mess up the quest.

So what you could have done is do the quest and not use the console command for this specific thing.

Or you could have used the console command and be willing to ignore the quest. The diagrams are the only reason to do them anyways.

Instead you seemed to have picked used the console command still care about the quest and are trying to figure out a way to get it to complete. Pretty much the most complicated of any choice you could have picked. And the most pointless. YOur literally wanting to do something that you yourself made pointless.

How about accepting the concequences of your decision?

If you don't know how to fix it, shut up and let someone else reply.
