Story repercussion of changing Ciri ethnicity (SPOILERS)

I'm not a fan of changing ethnicity of established characters in any way, either by whitewashing or blackwashing. If they have to fulfill diversity quotas they could change a lot of other characters, like for example Istredd audition posted the other day, often it doesn't matter. But Ciri character is different, her genealogy serve a major role in the series. To her be a PoC character, one of her parents also have to be PoC.

Cintra is small kingdom in Northrend Realms. Royal family, like Europe medieval royal families, only arrange marriages between other NR royal families (or even with the same blood, like Foltest), that mean all of them are homogeneous ethnicity. Whole Northrend Realms would have the same ethnicity, they are called Nordling by Nilfgaardians and there would have to be some serious explanation why royal families are different then common folks. So Nilfgaard have to be a different ethnicity, but if so why no one recognized Duny as Nilfgaardian? Invasion empire on small kingdom with the only mixed-blood princess and no one would bat an eye? Secret that she is daughter of Nilfgaard emperor is heavily guarded. Her origin is kept secret through saga, but having mixed princess would be a big news in Northrend Kingdoms. Why Geralt did not recognize Ciri in Brokilon when she told him she is a princess, how many of them are mixed-blood? How druids and Yurga family does not recognize distinct appearance of a child after Cintra massacre, matching description of famous royal misalliance. Lodge plans to secretly put Ciri for affair with kings is stupid when she is so characteristic.

And most important, she is something more, Graal, something needed for relationship between Geralt and Yennefer. White-haired Geralt and black-haired Yen have ashen-haired daughter, someone who they never could have. It's beautiful metafor that is lost when Ciri is different color skin than them. Diverse cast simple doesn't work here, either keep them all white, all change everyone to black/asian/brown.

Changing something like this (and essentially banning all white actresses from ever getting an audition for this role) is utter madness.

There's a much bigger problem that will make the show successful (but awful at the same time). Ethnicity doesn't matter compared to this.

What is your problem? The link is real, deal with it. The issue here is the difference between a black/asian/me playing a white role, it has NOTHING to do with what happened to ciri at 10 years old, and by the way, older actresses play younger ones all the time, so there goes your 'argument'

The idea that nobody will even care if the actress is not white, is utter garbage. Many threads on forums are talking about this. I think you just wish that nobody would care because that's your perverse agenda. Just come out and say it.

Exactly. Older actors play younger ones all the time, so long as they can pass it off, it doesn't matter.

I don't se how they are going to pass a black woman for example, as a white, green eyed woman.
