FOMO
One thing that The Witcher 3 always brings about is my FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out. I just can't finish a mission without checking on Google what were the other choices' consequences. Don't get me wrong, I love this game. But the choices sometimes hinder my enjoyement of the game. This must prove why I enjoy JRPG better than this kind of open RPG. I still love it though.

What about you guys?

I played through whole game first time without knowing anything about how to fights, what items to craft or where to go. Only relied to what game told me. Did not read single hint, walkthrough or forum post. Yes, I missed some content, I made wrong choices etc. But I very much enjoyed the game.

Then, after I finsihed the game, I played it again and this time did read every hint and quest walkthrough, tried out multiple endings. I still enjoyed it, I found some quests and dialogues I missed before, whole story archs were different.

It's indeed more enjoyable when you discover everything by yourself. But when you miss out something or make the wrong choice, it might impact the some aspects of the game. It's harder to love a game with a tormented ending, even more so to play it again.

Once I knew there were several ending types for Dishonored, I immediately adapted my gameplay to non lethal. This FOMO disorder is sometimes really annoying for me :P

I know what you mean, and it's especially hard with a game like this. Oh, you picked the wrong dialog choice in a quest 5 hours ago? Guess you'll be getting the bad ending then!

I try not to spoil myself by looking up info, but in the end I often do it anyway. I've even reloaded and replayed large-ish chunks of the game because of bad choices. In the end, as long as you're having fun, how you play is up to you.

And you can easily miss out on "what's actually going on" if you just blaze through and ask questions later. One particular side quest in Novigrad comes to mind, the serial killer thingy.

Spoilers ahead:
On first play through when I actually caught up with "the guy" and just outright killed him, him getting caught "in the act" and all. And the game was fine with that, quest ended and got the loot and was happy with it.

Second time around paid more attention to what people are saying and read books and hints, being wiser from the initial run. Noticed subtle hints in this particular mission, and actually confronted "the guy" before laying hands on him, and whaddaya know not guilty of being THE killer. Killed him anyway though for other things... Then went after more clues and got the right guy/vampire. Mind blown by story design skills... Don't remember any other game ever allowing a quest to end "the wrong way" without it outright failing or atleast letting me know I didn't get it right.

@Vellari I know right! I did exactly the same. Since the first guy was a psycho, I didn't think there would be any other suspect so I quickly killed him without asking any questions. Then as part of my FOMO disorder, I checked Google to see if I was right, turned out that the murderer was a flippin' vampire! This game will take me ages to end [sight] :P

Could you perhaps edit your post and put some spoiler tags on? Some people who have not finished the game yet read these forums too, no need to ruin the surprise for them.
