Just killed him at lvl 12, enhanced fire bomb, upgraded quen, and thunderbolt pot

one of the tricks is being able to spot fogglings, the spot where the fog is thickest in the room is where he'll appear , so be wary of that location (this applies to generic foglets, can't remember if it works in the boss room since it's always covered in fog, been awhile since I fought this guy),

try to keep quen up,

bring a deconcotion or two,

use the ones that fit your playstyle best,

moondust will keep him from going into the fog.

Other than that, maybe upgrade gear or gain a few levels, and make sure you're dodging, not just rolling, dodging lets you get in a lot more hits than rolling accross the room.

I literally just beat him after maybe 12 attempts. What I did was roll away when he would appear, Mirror bomb/ehanched necro oil and then attack>dodge back>attack> in one hit bursts. Took some time but was pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stoked when I beat him.

Gwent is the answer to everything, that was the missing key in the end of wild hunt's saga, we could've defeated Eredin, Detlaff, O'dimm in Gwent

If you don't know how to use oil or upgrade Quen try this way - will take some time though, but,,, ah and buy some proper arrows

Use your alternate Quen Sign, put Necrophage Oil onto your blade. You can also use a Moon Dust Bombs to prevent him hiding in fog. If you have - use Black Blood potion. Try IgnI. Dancing Stars bombs. Roll. It doesn't like to fight outside the fog. So just step back and shoot at it. Exploding Bolts. Keep trying. Watch videos.

Many thanks. The moon dust bombs weren't very efficient. I will try other kinds of bombs.

Had also minor problems at the first 3 attemps - for all players who landed here by google a guide: just awake him, go out of the fog / water, attack him from great distance with the crossbow (he stays in the fog if you are not too close to him), throw all bombs you have, use Quen sign, wait 3s to reload sign power, go in with defense and block / dodge his 3 attacks, use ignii and the moment he starts burning: full fire on him! Go out, shoot, quen, reload, defense, ignii ... after two cycles: job done.

Remember to check your quest level kids! I derped into this one as a level 6. Yikes.

Load up on potions and oils, then keep using quen, and spam him with fire bombs if you have them, and attack him while he's burning.
