Did you try it this way?

Folks, I did exactly as the tutorial directed. After watching the video on throwing bombs, I do have a question. Does the sword need to be sheathed?
No.

That would be very impractical in combat.
What I mean is does it naturally work as a middle mouse button, without you assigning it, again if its a gaming mouse, you might actually have to bind it to a function, so that could be why its not working in this game, but it works in others. Its a long shot.
Does it work if you put something else there like crossbow?
Have you checked the keybinds to make sure the middlemouse button is assigned to ranged?
Your question about keybinding got me thinking... Yeah, the middle mouse button was bound to the right-arrow key on the keyboard for ED. So it turns out I had to go into options in Witcher and bind the middle mouse button for "Use Quick Access Item". Since i didn't want to mess up my ED game, I kept the right-arrow key to throw things in Witcher. Thank you for all your help.
Sure, that's the normal behaviour. Did you read cyclops' last post, worm_master? It explains the reason why ...
